Oklahoma Doctor Prescribing Xanax
UpdatedAre there any doctors who will prescribe XANAX at the first visit? I have medical history.

Hello, LD! How are you?
If you require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a specialist due to the new regulations that were put in place last year. A general practitioner won't be able to prescribe it.
That said, there is also no guarantees that any doctor will prescribe it on any visit, since it is a controlled substance that is very commonly abused.
This medication carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability.
Do you currently have a PCP that could refer you to someone?
Can anyone suggest a good doctor in that area?
Aja,
Your best bet is seeing a doctor. Going the illicit route will only cause more anxiety. The authorities in the Tampa area have no compassion or tolerance for " street doctors" most agree benzos and the Withdrawl from them are more dangerous then any other known to man. Staying away from or not starting that cascade of misery will serve you best. Take it from someone who knows from years on that merry go round, if there are other options at least try them first... Best wishes my friend....
Thanks for answering guys, almost none doctor will help...I stopped drinking alcohol over 2 years ago and feel worse and worse everyday...why??? no doctor will tell me from WHAT I have shaking, not sleeping, not eating, can't think, fall down to often, running around the house with something in my hands and bang into everything around. it's something I just can't stop, too often I go somewhere and don't even know why and where etc. can tell ya it's none fun...and I'm really tired from being a "testing rabbit". what will work...nothing except benzos work...addictive??? heck they want me to drink again??? really would like to be an addict of benzos than drink again... I'm to old to test myself with some meds which won't work anyway...so just asked if somebody can find a doctor who can prescribe something...I'm just really tired...trying all clinics I know, hospitals etc...if somebody knows where I can still go in Tampa, I will really appreciate any advice or help... anyway, have a nice weekend...

Yreece,
Unfortunately no one is prescribing this medication unless prescribed by a mental health professional and only under limited circumstances and for periods not to exceed several weeks.Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you but these are new guidelines that prescribers are following
No I understand completely..I quit drinking 5 yrs ago..and know without the help of meds id be drinking..sounds like u need ur benzo medication..u might try calling them asking straight out if they will help u..Warren clinic may be able to help take tye edge off at least
I have severe anxiety with panic attacks. I cannot sleep or hold a job. I am not looking for a high and do not abuse medications. Is there a doctor who prescribes Xanax in Oklahoma City or elsewhere that understands this and will help me? I would greatly appreciate it.
Re: Verwon (# 1)
I keep hearing about "new regulations", AND I keep searching for said regulations. All I've read has to do with Opioids. Not benzos. Could u direct me to these regulations? As far as what I've read benzos are a schedule 4 drug. I don't know why doctors are getting so paranoid about prescribing them??
Re: Hoober (# 9)
I was like you, what new regulations? The truth is between new State regulations and Federal regulations, Controlled Schedule 4 medicines are scrutinized much like Opioids. In fact Benzo's will be the next group of medicine to be looked at for scheduling purposes
I don't know how much longer I can go on. I have no joy in my life. It's been 3 years since I went to do something for me. The last 3 years now I only go out once a month to get food. Pay bills. Get husband's meds. I'm also his care care giver. It's only a matter of time until he passes. I don't take care of myself anymore. Have not put on make-up in 3 years. It's getting to the point that I'm dealing with too many problems. Can anyone recommend a compassionate doctor in oklahoma?
Re: Nancy (# 11)
Sorry to hear this Nancy. This forum isn't really set up for a crisis intervention. There must be local resources in the Oklahoma area for you, and treatment available? Isn't there a 211 or 511 # in your area, plus check Google too, If you are seeking Xanax leave it up to the Doctors. There are a lot of new medicines out there to try
I have been diagnosed with panic disorder, Agoraphobia, plus PTSD. I have had this condition for 17 years, but the only medication that helped me feel like a normal part of society and able to get out of my room was a Xanax, yet I can't get a doctor to prescribe them to me. Instead these doctors will give them to people that don't even need them and they turn around and sell them. I wish I could just find a doctor here in Oklahoma that actually listens to me and prescribes them.
