New Oxycontin
UpdatedI took my first Oxy 60 OP. It did not work well...reminded me of the generic ones a few years ago. Will Purdue ever go back to the Oc formula?

They are not intending to, at the moment, however, many people have been reporting problems with this new formulation not working as well or causing odd side effects.
I suggest you contact Purdue and the FDA to report the problem:
Purdue Pharma number for drug safety/medication issues:
888.726.7535
FDA MedWatch number:
800-332-1088

I just started taking the new OP Oxycontin pills and I have an upset stomache along with feeling more pain then I normally. What is up? What is the new OP pill made with?
This new OP does not work. I've been sick for a month. What a rip off! I pay $100 co pay for the brand and this is just like the generic
are the 80 mg oxys the only ones being reformulated rite now?
No all Oxtcontin is now made with the new formula. 20,40,and 80 mg.
I spoke with my DOctor and they are all now set up so that you can not abuse them.
i have been takeing oxycontin for about 6months they just gave the new op 30mg this month it doesnt work i am having pain before i could take it and i was good for 8hrs now 4hrs i am hurting in my arms and back it sucks and it is a rip off i am supose to take er with a break thru the parmacy recominded me to ask fo fentanyl or ms contin my doctor says just give it a chance i dont want to so when i fo back i will stop the oxycontins and ask for something eles this is just not fair it cost me 76 dollars for crap i take as a break thru 15mg of oxycodone this works great and so much better than the ops they are imediate relese though i hate that they have done this its not fair and it doesnt work
I am on the new oxy 6mg x 3 per day, was on the old formula for 3 years. The new one's , in my opinion are very inconsistant with how much oxycodone is released. I do feel them working BUT, sometimes way to much codone is released and im un able to drive, work. Sometimes im in Pain at a level 8-10. Wish they go back to the original formula and attack the auser and not the patient!!
I have been taking the new OP's for a month and a half,I have way to much break thru pain and still have an upset stomach. They need to find a better solution then they presently are using! I do not want to take extra meds for the Break thru pain! I also do not want to sound like a cry baby to my Doctor? Is any one from Perdue listening?????
I have been taking 60 mg oxycontin for over 2 years for chronic back, muscle & joint pain. Most of the time my pain level is 8-10, with or without these pills. once in a great while I can tell they work a little but not very well. I think they actually stopped putting the amount of medicine in them as they used to to combat people who abuse them. So that leaves people with legitimate pain suffering and miserable. I wish I could find something different that works. Any suggestions?
These op's are a travesty. They are even more expensive than old formula. Guy's the change purdue made with the oxycontin is not about safety..it's about the fact purdue's patent was set to expire and they didn't want to give up their money maker. Problem is they are now losing tremedous amounts of money because patient's are changing med's. My gut feeling tell's me these new op's are dangerous to one's health. Is anyone having chest pain and heart palpitation's since taking the op's? I have been on these op's for 3 month's and since that time am having horrible heart palpitaion's. I wake up with pounding heart..etc.
It looks like most of these posts are all older--when this OP med first came out, and I'm one of those poeople with chronic, severe pain who was on the old formulary for many years. I, too, am not getting consistent--if hardly any pain control, not the 'energy' the old pill seemed to help with, and am having serious gastroinstestinal problems and even heart palpitations, as many of you have mentioned. I am curious how the rest of you have resolved this issue. My quality of life has decreased GREATLY and I am constantly sick and in pain again, almost as if I'm not taking any pain medicine at all. I did try Opana and Fentanyl patches and MS contin, but, again, they don't seem to work as well. I have also developed some kind of 'mysterious' inflammation-type response in my urinary tract as well as my gastrointestinal tract since going on the OPs. It is unbearably painful and feels like I have to urinate 24-7--and no real cure. As an experiment I went off the OPs and took my old, emergency stash of OCs that I had saved, and my urinary and gastrointestinal symptoms instantly dissappeared!!! The doctor explained to me that my body was having some sort of inflammatory response, for which there was no apparent reason or cure, and it appears to have been the OPs causing it. So now what do I do? Any current info anyone has for pain-control meds instead of OPs would be greatly appreciated. I think that down the road it will turn out to be another one of those commercials on TV advertising law firms suing drug companies for bad drugs and adverse reactions. But until then, what do we do? Anyone have any good news on this topic?
