Needing Narcotic Pain Meds

I live in belleville il and had back surgery 4 weeks ago. my doctor doesn't believe me when i tell him i'm in pain. every day is agony. i can't take a shower without excrutiateing pain and i end up in tears daily. my life is so limited now since i'm unable to do things i normally would do because of the pain i'm experiencing. help!!!

Hello, Chris! How are you doing? Sorry that you're suffering.

What type of doctor ave you been seeing? There have been strict restrictions placed on PCP's and surgeons regarding what they can prescribe, why they can prescribe it, as well as how much they can prescribe and how long they can prescribe it……and if you're specifically asking any doctor for narcotics, they'll usually view that as being drug seeking behavior and not be willing to prescribe anything.

The best way to get the help you need would be by seeing a pain management specialist. Is there a chance your doctor may be willing to refer you to someone?

I have spoken to my doctor about pain management clinics. He just sort of brushed me off. It's so frustrating. I DO get the feeling that they think I'm drug seeking, but that's so far from the truth. I don't have a drug abuse history; I just want relief so I can resume normal every day activities. I'm at a loss about what to do.
