Need Xanax Script Increased

My doc prescribed 1.5 (1mg) xanax 3x daily. But with work and other pressures my anxiety is pretty much constant. I don't feel high on it, but it takes the anxiety away, which is almost a high in itself. Should I approach my doc the way I've laid it out here? He's extremely reasonable.

If the current dose if working, why do you need an increase? I'm not sure I understand you. Can you please clarify?
