Need Doctor To Prescribe Adderall In Bucks County Pa

Updated

My phyciatrist that was treating me for my ADD & Anxiety up and left all of his patients last year, never to be seen again. I found another Dr within a couple weeks who was willing to continue my treatment. Then in April/May 2017,I lost my insurance, and there was no way I could afford the visit PLUS the medications. I take 30mg of Adderall 2x's a day and 2mg Xanax 3 x's a day (have all medication history for the past 2 years to back this up). Now that i have insurance again i need a Dr b/c my previous Dr is booked for the next 6 months. At this point i don't care if i have to pay cash for the initial visit, my medications are covered so it's not as difficult. Every Dr I've called so far is either not accepting new patients, even when i said i'd pay cash, or i'm being advised by the receptionist that the Dr doesn't prescribe the medications i'm on. There were a few shadier looking Dr's that were willing to give me an appt, but just ended up cancelling last minute saying "we don't give medications anymore, sorry" and hung up on me. ANYONE with info on a Dr that can help me please let me know....I have had no luck, and called just about every Dr in Lower Bucks and surrounding areas, it's beyond frusterating. Thanks!

Adderall and Xanax are controlled substances, so unfortunately, if you are contacting doctors and asking them to prescribe these, most of them will view this as being drug seeking behavior and won't even let you get in the door, as you've already experienced.

The best thing to do is to set up an appointment with a new doctor, without asking them about prescribing anything in advance, make sure they receive a full copy of your current medical records, then discuss it with them at the appointment. Most doctors feel more comfortable prescribing, once you are an established patient, and they can see what has and hasn't worked for you as documented by other medical professionals.

Have you had any luck, yet? Does anyone else have any advice to add?

It sucks being in that boat. I understand that it looks like drug-seeking to doctors when you call and want to know before WASTING YOUR TIME AND MONEY if they will be willing to continue the treatment that has already been working for you....but on the other hand, there are far too many doctors simply unwilling to prescribe adderall... which is ridiculous, considering stimulants are the only way to effectively treat ADHD. The non stimulants simply do not work. Especially long term. And ADHD doctors know this. They are very aware that they are wasting their patients time and delaying them effective treatment when they force them to try non stimulants medications first. They only do this as an attempt to weed out drug seekers to protect their own butts, at the sake of proper, effective treatment for their patients. Why can't a grown adult call a doctor prior to making an appt with them and ask them questions to be sure that they are a proper fit for them too? At the end of the day you'd be wasting their time too by going to countless appts, only to find out that will not prescribe you your medication, at which time I certainly wouldn't be paying for that non appt , and they won't be getting paid either. Other patients of theirs could have had that time block. So it would be in everyone's best interest to be completely transparent....but instead of act like adults, everyone is forced to dance around the subject and play games and wast each other's time. It is just stupid.

Sorry for the rant, it is just so frustrating to think that someone would be punished for being honest and completely transparent at the gate. Anyway , there is a doctor in like Yardley, near the Oxford Valley mall. Dr. Woloshin. Give him a try....just read his online Google reviews and you will see you'll have no problem getting your medication from him.

Also, try calling your insurance provider and explaining to them that you are having a hard time finding a doctor to continue your treatment, could they help?
