My Suboxone Makes Me Puke Before It Is Able Dissolve
UpdatedHi. I just got out of detox and already knew I could not take the suboxone film because I immediately puke once I put it under my tongue. I thought it was the consistency of the film that made that happen. In detox they used subutex which still hated the taste but I was able to tolerate it and able to get it into my system. They sent me home with the suboxone tabs and I am having the same issue. I didn’t throw it up but immediately started to gage and wanted to puke. Is this normal?

Yes, that can be a normal side effect of this medication, especially if you are sensitive to the Naloxone that Suboxone contains in addition to the Buprenorphine.
The FDA lists its other side effects as possibly including dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.
How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? Are you on any other medications?
I know you probabalt won’t see this, but maybe it’ll help someone. There are generic SUBOXONE tablets that can be taken. The strips are DISGUSTING, and designed to be a deterrent because if a child eats then, they could die. Have your doctor write a strict specifying the tablets instead of the films. While Verwon is correct that you can react badly to the Nalxone found in Suboxone, it sounds more likely from your immediate reaction, that it’s about the awful taste. You can also dissolve between your gums and cheeks instead of letting it near your tongue(taste) or try taking it rectally.
