My Reaction To Gabapentin 100mg 3 X's A Day (Top voted first)

I was taking 100mg twice a day. My Dr. upped it to 100mg three times a day. I've been taking this for four weeks now. My eyes have been burning for over three weeks and I've had the feelings of my skin crawling for the past two weeks. Today I've been having trouble breathing, my chest tightening, and burning sensations in my face, eyes, hands, feet, and throat. Within 30 minutes time I've had round, red lesions popping out on my face, head, arms, legs, feet, and hands

Hello, Tamisena! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems that you're having.

I think you need to see your doctor, or go to an urgent care or ER and have this checked out. That sounds like you may be having some type of allergic reaction and the trouble breathing is especially concerning, because that could be very dangerous.

Have you had an other symptoms, like peripheral edema? Dizziness? Loss of appetite?

This is an anticonvulsant that can also help with certain types of nerve pain and mood disorders, its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight gain.

I am a 50 year old female taking Gabapentin 300mg morning 300mg afternoon and 9oomg to 1800mg at night for severe fibromyalgia and seizures for 5 months. It helped me at first now still in pain 30 pounds heavier is there an alternative. Does anyone know? Please.

I'm very sorry about the problems you're having and that it is no longer working for you.

One alternative that's available is Pregabalin, it is another medication in the same class, that causes similar side effects to those I've already mentioned.

You also might need to just try a regular analgesic, so that is something you might want to discuss with your doctor.

Is it still preventing your seizures?

I had heart palpitations and tightening of the throat for the first month. I went to the emergency room 4 times. I started taking 1 mg of anxiety RX for one month it helped a lot. Then I became use to the Gabapentin, 2100 mg per day, so still in extreme pain 20 pounds heavier, I need to talk to my PCP. Good luck with your condition.
