I have a Psychiatrist and he gives me an RX for 0.5, two times a day. I run out. I have SEVERE anxiety and depression. At times I take a larger dose (I need to) and that is helpful. The Dr. however says 0.5 is enough. My former Psychiatrist, for many years, gave me 1mg. It was a blue pill and I could only take up to 5 each day. That was very helpful and some days I didn't need to take 5 pills, so I didn't. I'm 72 years young and don't abuse drugs.

It is suggested that older people do not take large amounts of Benzodiazipines . 5mg is a large dose. What do you take for depression? I'll admit 1 mg is not a lot, but I have actually gone down 33% from 3mg to 2 mg after almost dying by using this drug.
