My Prescription Was Stolen Now What? (Page 2)

Me and my wife recently had a birthday party for my son. After the party I went into the bathroom to take one of my suboxone and i noticed the perscription was stolen. I have not reported it to the police or my doctor yet. I am not sure what to do. I dont want to ask my doctor for a replacement script because I dont know if I can get kicked out of the program. This program is the last chance for me to get my life straight and it is working so far but I am scared if I dont replace them that I run a risk of relapsing. My next appointment to get my regular refill is three weeks away. Has anybody ever delt with a situation like this or have any real advise on what to do?
To JANE: You're out of line & judgmental. Methadone and suboxone are for opiate weaning or recovery. True, it may not be the best form we have, but these drugs don't make you feel high. They are available for pregnant women too. It's far better to be on methadone or Suboxone during a pregnancy than to be abusing illicit drugs. Stop judging! So she's been on it 10 years. She's trying. So 10 years?! I was on methadone for almost that long. It helped me get my life back. As of today, methadone is available and legal under doctors' direction. Methadone clinics are a godsend to many of us who want to get clean. These programs require work too, and extreme adherence.
Litte John, do not allow your family member in your house. If he lives there, tell him to get out. It is highly doubtful your family member will be charged with anything. Even though what was done is against the law, unless another crime is committed and the family member is caught with the medication when they arrest him for something else, nothing will happen to him. Most law enforcement agencies and District Attorney Offices do not view this as a wise use of resources. It is up to you to keep your medications safe. There being no sign of force on the cabinet proving it was broken into does not help matters either. Your family member has a drug problem and needs to get help.
If/when you get another prescription, be prepared for the same thing to happen. Do not allow the family member in your home under any circumstances. Do not tell Anyone if/when you go to the doctor and get another prescription. It is no ones business what medications you take but your doctors.
YouTube has shows that show how to crack any code on those type of locks.
He left the bottle with 3 pills, like i wouldn't notice 90% is missing, so at least the bottle isn't floating around out there.
You call the doctor that has the scrip on file and let them know that the police may be contacting them regarding a stolen medication. Next .... you call the police. Report your son stole the medication. Now..... this will mean your son could possibly face charges, and you will also have to "press charges" against your son if you have no doubt that is who stole it.
You can not just call the doctor and tell them about it... hoping they will say " I'm sorry, here let me write you another script , no problem."
That's not happening.
There has to be a case opened with the police department, charges pressed on someone, a police report filed..... then you take all of that information to your doctor and "MAYBE" you will have a slightly better chance at getting a new script. Also, the scripts have a tracing number on them, so the police will track that to the pharmacy where it was filled as well.
But...... in the long run, you may possibly be able to get your medecine within a week or so.
Hope this helps.
Same problem here- how do I file a police report that my son broke into a locked medicine cabinet and stole my whole month's supply? Not even my doctor of 25 years can help me out.
I had a small Master Combination Lock on my medicine cabinet, but apparently, to an addict that has 3 hours to try every 3 digit combination in the world, it really doesn't matter. Now I have had my month's supply of MY Klonopin stolen by a family member, a 2x relapse. How do I get MY medicine and how the heck to I keep him out- I am ready to hook-up the house alarm to the cabinet.
You should have filed a police report. Now, your bottle of pills are floating around. Sure the bottle has been emptied, but if the thief got pulled over or caught with the bottle, it looks as if you gave it to him. Or maybe looks more like you sold them and used your bottle to place them in. Does this make any sense? It has your name on it. By now, you are safe as its been a while and your not in jail. Next time any thing like this happens, to cover your a.., file a police report. I have had to do it before.
I hope my post was not what you were referring to Thomas. I know very well of addiction being afflicted most of my life. I lost my eldest daughter to this disease too..I empathize with anyone addicted. It's a b**** no doubt. Anyway, I wish you the best.
I have had this happen to my oxycotin! I just refilled my script and my daughter came to visit me, I never thought a thing about it. Well, when it was time for my next dose, I released that she had taken the whole bottle. My OWN daughter! So the next day I went to my doctor and told him what had happened and he said he would refill but ONLY that time! Never again, (he had been my doctor for years also) but I had no way to pay for the script so my landlord paid for it and I paid him back a little at a time. Thank goodness. So, yes, file a police report and stay strong but honest. I hope this helps some!
This is such an old post but anyone reading it..... it seems a fairly easy answer to me...
#1- file police report
#2- show to doctor and ask his/her advice
Assuming you've done nothing wrong
In regard to a reply from Jane fr 2012?. Replacing suboxone is NOT trading one addiction for the other. That is plain ignorance. As far as a script being stolen I've been through that several times over the years from my kids stealing my subs. I ended up having to keep them on me.My Dr and I have a great relationship . I've always just been honest.. Honesty is the best policy. For me.
I just happen to have had my pain medications stolen by my own mother so I was trolling the internet looking to see what my options were. After reading your post, I am repulsed. There are people out there who suffer from addiction and it is a sickness. Not everyone recovers at the same pace and that every program works the same for every individual but for an addict, taking the pharmaceutical alternative versus street drugs is much safer and it takes a strong person to admit that they have a problem.
How the hell do you think you are to pass judgement on people who suffer from this horrible disease?
You never know what someone else has been through or what baggage they carry, fortunately you have obviously never struggled with this & I hope you never do but I have lost family members to this disease and I praise anyone who admits openly that they need help and are willing to put their pride aside to live a normal life.
You really are a special kind of stupid to be making statements like that.
I was struck by a motor vehicle as a pedestrian about a year ago and have had back surgery as a result. I have tried every alternative to narcotic pain medication to relieve my pain but medication seems to be working along with physical therapy.
In the process my body has become dependent and I fear the day that I try to take myself off of these medications.
I am grateful that there are plans out there the help aid with withdrawals.
Actually methadone and suboxone are far better than abusing pills every day. There's no comparisons really. I've been on methadone 5 years and am a fully functioning adult now. I go to school, work and am healthy. It's impossible to function while taking pills all the time so methadone saved my life. You should really do the research on things before you start judging and shooting off with your completely wrong opinions.
Lee, losing a prescription is not a crime like having one stolen. It is highly doubtful your doctor will write you another one.
Im sorry but who are you too judge. You are what's wrong with this nation's beliefs on addiction it has been proven addiction is a disease of the mind so keep your opinions to yourself please
Went xmas shopping all day..my prescription wasnt due til 2days later. when i was paying for my daughters dress I realize that my prescription script wasnt in my wallet.most likely when i was paying and fell off..start bugging out looking every where for it, I call the dr. Office the following morning call all the pharmacy to see if anyone tried to fill it.went to the police station to make a report and call them 2 days later and they cant write a report cause they told me they can t report do to its a lost item not a crimal act.the dr. Needs a report but they wont do it..the pharmacy have done a track for me and no one has try to fill it..these are my oxycodone that I been taking for the past 5 yrs and now i don't have no med.I took my last one 2today and most likely the dr.wont give me another script.any suggestions..
Actually the reason doctors put you on that medication starting off is so you don't die from your body going through withdrawals. It's steps at a time, not get up and get over it. Doesn't work like that.
Brandi, you may or may not be able to get another prescription for your Vyvance before you are due.
I'm on Vyvance I take one 30mg in the Morning & 20mg after lunch. I went and got them filled Friday. My friend came over last night and asked if she could stay because she's homeless so I wake up this morning she's gone and so is my medication smfh... I did call the police but he gave me a case number I guess for the police report.. My doctor is only in the office on Fridays. Do I have to wait for my doctor or can my counselor there call and get it done?
