My Doctor Said No To Pain Medicine, Is That Allowed?

In 1994 I was in a car wreck that put me in a full body cast, broken femur, fx skull, on top of a history of abdominal surgeries from Hirschprungs. In 2000, a hernia repair surgery. in 2008, tumor removal. 2009, car wreck that resulted in no broken bones, but made my back and hip pain worse. Jan 2012, tumor removal. Nov 2012, c Section that resulted in torn bladder from exessive scar tissue in the abdomen.
During most of these things I was on a pain medicine ranging from Ibuprofen to Lortabs. After my bladder repair from the c section I was on a combination of Morophone injections and Percocets. Pain medication was stopped in January 2013.
To this day, I have chronic pain. My back, my hips, my hand, my feet. My insides! Everything is in pain. I have done PT, electrotherapy, chiropractic, Tramadol, steroid injections, epidural injections, with NO relief. I asked my primary care doctor the other day if I could have something stronger than my combination of Tramadol & Ibuprofen and she said, No. That she felt the route of pain management was better....even though to this day Ive had no relief from that route. Im frustrated, sad...hurt. Im in chronic pain everyday....I cant pickup my 9month old without wanting to cry. I cant sleep with my husband without his touch hurting....And My physician says, No.....
Do I have any rights here? Do I not have the right to play with my kids without being in pain, sleeping with my husband again without hurting????? The Lortabs that I was on for my tumor pain gave me strength to do the things I need daily...now I cant. The tramadol helps me make it through work...but by the time I get home to my family....I can do nothing but lay there...I have no desire to do anything because of the pain.
What can I do????

Right now we at finishing epidural injections, but my pain management is only a anesthesiologist, and has yet to mention any other pain control that the injections,.
Unfortunately, no you don't have the right to be prescribed pain medications. Your doctor actually isn't obligated to treat you for anything, unless your life is in danger. It is awful, but true and I am very sorry that I don't have better news for you.
While pain makes you very miserable and ruins your quality of life, it isn't considered to be life threatening.
Additionally, your GP has strict restrictions on what they can prescribe for pain, how long they can prescribe it and the reasons why they can prescribe it, so it's also kind of out of her hands. For long-term treatment of chronic pain, she has to refer you to pain management.
There are some pain management specialists that will prescribe medications, if the other treatments haven't worked.
Did your doctor refer you anywhere?
