Muscle/nerve Ache With Eliquis And Niacin Or Statin (Page 3)

Updated

Since starting Eliquis, I have felt much stiffer and sore in the mornings and during the day with muscle tightness in my neck and back affecting my upper arms. A general sense of early aging that is unpleasant. Anyone else with these symptoms?

I'm a 28 year old female. I started taking Xarelto after a blood clot in my arm. Developed widespread joint and muscle pain about 3 weeks after starting. My doctor switched me to Eliquis and I had relief from symptoms 2 days later. But same thing happened, 3 weeks after starting Eliquis, I've developed horrible neck and upper body pain. Can't wait to finish my treatment.

I have been on Eliquis for a year now. As posted before I have had neck pains and muscle pains in the legs. I have been on it since January of 2015 for a blood clot in my lung. No heart involvement. No real reason as I am active and do not smoke. I was on two medication that had hormones and these were discontinued in January. I continue to have pain but not as bad and I guess I just put up with it. At my last doctor visit I was told there are always little side effects with medications. I was told to cut my dose down to 1/2 of what I was taking. I am to return in 6 months and then it will be discontinued. (This is the recommendation for this medication). I have been on 1/2 dose for a month now. I don't see any change in muscle weakness and joint or neck pain.

I was on eliquis some time ago but I don't remember the dosage. I began to have burning skin on face, arms and legs. Also had some muscle pain but didn't think to attribute it to Eliquis. My cardiologist said burning pain was not listed as a side effect but he had two other patients who complained of the dsame thing so he reported it. He advised me to stop it. Burning stopped. I've had an ablation for A-Fib and am doing fine on just a low dose aspirin daily. Anyone else have burning pain?

I can hardly walk down my steps in the morning, I am so stiff and sore. I am 61 years old so I tried blaming it on age, but it all started on eliquis. My doctor put me on magnesium for muscle ache, it is not helping. I understand I need to be on a blood thinner and for sure do not want to be on warfin because of diet restrictions and constant blood test. I work full time on my feet all day and would love to work for another 10 years?? What is the answer?

I understand fully. I have been on elequis for one year. Muscles and soreness all the time . Lower back, shoulder, and leg aches. I sometime will get blood shot eyes. I am due to have an ablation on May 19th. But apparently still have to be on a blood thinner after. Golden years are not so golden. Drugs are poison......

I have been on eliquis for a year and four months. In Feburary my dose was cut to 1/2 and I don't feel as bad but the pharmacists said it was not recommended for a first time user of a blood thiner. I had an unexplained blood clot in one lung and no heart involvement. My neck pains are not as bad or my leg pains. If I felt as miserable as you do I would really put up a fuss with the doctor. Beside feeling miserable that medicine is super expensive and there are others.

I stopped taking Eliques 3 months ago, because I was retaining water and gaining weight. Just took Asperin. We went on a long RV trip and I took Eliques again, not wanting to risk a stroke while out in no where. After a few days I started to get pain in my leg and my knees. Will stop this awful medication as soon as I get home again. From what I read some say it takes a while before the pain goes away. I had reported my weight to the FDA. I am certain Eliques caused my water retention and weight gain. I am convinced my leg and joint pain is caused by Eliques. That drug sounded to good to be true and as I found out it really was

I have been on eliquis for over a year. I had knee surgery during this time and associated my joint pain to that and a lack of exercise. As time went on felt the aches and pains were my age catching up to me. My hips, lower back and neck pain became more and more of a problem but exercise did help a little. About two weeks ago my doctor took me off the Eliquis and slowly almost all the pains have resolved. My neck still bothers me a little but overall a significant improvement. I was on Eliquis for a DVT. Have to suspect the Eliquis and would consider trying another treatment if I had to go back on it.

I've been on Eliquis for about 2 years due to 3 arrhythmias (including AFib) and a TIA they think I had in 2013. I was put on Eliquis when they found the AFib and other two heart arrhythmias.

Prior to taking this drug I was able to work, clean house, drive, do my own laundry, the normal things people do in everyday life. Not anymore. Over the course of the two years my health and quality of life has completely changed for the worse. I'm now mostly bedridden but for the occasional day when I can sit at a computer like I am now. The pain is so severe now that I spend a lot of time just crying, and the loss of quality of life is overwhelming. I'm so weak & painful now that I have to take meals in the bedroom, and I even have to brush my teeth etc there now. I have to also use waterless soap to clean and even need help from my husband to do that... and it wears my out to the extreme.

Symptoms: Severe muscle & joint aches, crippling fatigue, pain is worse now in my neck, lower back (which has been the case and worsening for about a year now), and upper arms/shoulders. Nausea, occasional headache (never used to get headaches at all), burning/tingling in hands and feet is unbelievable.

I'm 54 1/2 and feel like I'm in my 90's. My life, for all practical purposes, has come to a complete and total screeching halt. Holding my phone to my ear to talk is nearly impossible, as is texting. As I type, my forearms are laying on the laptop because I can't hold them up... and I'm sick to my stomach from the pain that never, ever, EVER lets up.

I had ablations for my arrhythmias in 2013 but am forced to take a blood thinner due to the TIA in 2013. My cardiologist, and my electrophysiologist have both said I'm a good candidate for the Watchman device--it's recently approved (2015) for use in the USA. I don't know if my symptoms are from Eliquis, but all the evaluations I've had, all the blood work, and doctors telling me that they don't know what's wrong... I have to assume it's the Eliquis, especially now that I know I basically have every symptom/side effect possible to the extreme.

If any of you are on Eliquis due to AFib you may want to talk to your cardiologist or electrophysiologist about that Watchman device... because it means a blood thinner is no longer necessary.

I hate blood thinners.. the idea of them scare me, and Eliquis has absolutely no antidote at this time....

Just read this very interesting letter with symptoms which sound like this is linked to this drug ELIQUIS.
I have written about this before and you can read what I have to say about it but now I have more to add.
I have suffered in the past with Migraine and learned to tolerate it however now I am having terrible headaches and Panadol/Co-codamol don't work. I have a little tapping at the side of my head and notice heart rate rises from the 54 to 70 and above.
Next is the SEVERE tinnitus God I have never experienced anything like it so bad I had my husband out the window looking for this noise and of course he doesn't suffer from this and cant hear it. It starts to wear off just a few hours before the next dose is due.
So lets re-cap the symptoms since starting this drug.
NAUSEA ++
ABDOMINAL PAIN
SEVERE BACKACHE AND JOINT PAIN
NERVE PAIN TO FEET AND COLD FEET
LARGE BRUISES ALTHOUGH BLLODS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE O.K
PASSING LARGE AMOUNTS OF URINE 1-2 HOURS OF TAKING ELIQUIS
TINNITUS
MIGRAINE IRRITABILITY
Is this enough to go on with I strongly suggest you write to Yellow Card and fill it in as this will perhaps make the powers that be sit up and take notice.
Will keep you posted.

Yes I have mild arthritis but have been going to the gym 5-6 times a week for 15 years. I felt ok for 74 years old until I started taking Eliquis. My gym endurance is half what it was before taking it. It was like a switch was flipped when I started taking it. Weak leaks, much slower walking due to the leg discomfort. 45 minutes on a row machine 3-4 times a week was normal. Now if I get to 15 minutes I've done good. I have been telling the hematologist this for the past three visits and they claim it's not the Eliquis...BS. Sept 20 is the 6 months mark and the doc has claimed if doppler is ok he will take me off of it.

INTERESTED HOW YOU SEE A HEMATOLOGIST BECAUSE THERE IS NO BLOOD WORK REQUIRED FOR THIS DRUG UNLIKE WARFARIN. ONCE A YEAR A RENAL FUNCTION EVALUATION IS ALL THAT IS REQUIRED, NOTHING ELSE. WOULD ASK YOU IF POSSIBLE TO TELL ME JUST IN CASE I AM MISSING SOMETHING?
