Muscle Aches And Linzess

I have been on Linzess for a month. My dose is now 1 every other day. I am still waiting to see if the diarrhea subsides on the new dose. I have had another problem which started about 5 days in. My hips started aching. Since then I have having muscle tension in my shoulders and upper back. I dont' want to give up on the Linzess, but am concerned about the muscle aches. Is the diarrhea caused by the Linzess dehydrating me. My urine output seems normal. Or could I be reacting to something in the Linzess?

I been on Lizness for 3 weeks it started working really good then it stopped An now it started making making my back hurt so bad it takes my breath away.What do I need to do?

I too am having muscle pains in my arms and some times my hip and back. I've been on Linzess for about 2 months and the muscles in my arms are becoming more painful.

Hi Karen,

Sorry to hear about the muscle aches/diarrhea. From what I could gather, both diarrhea and stomach pain are reported to be common but potentially severe side effects of Linzess (Linaclotide) that you should talk with your doctor about if the symptoms do not go away on their own. I have yet to come across any specific details depicting pain in other areas of the body that you had mentioned...nor have I seen any statements evaluating why Linzess causes diarrhea... In my experience dehydration leads to constipation rather than diarrhea, but that may be something to discuss with your doctor as well. In the end it could just come down to weighing out the pros and cons in order to determine is Linzess is still right for you.
