Multiple Prescriptions, With Adderall (safety)

I am a 100% disabled veteran and have been on pain management for about 13 years. (80MG METHADONE daily... yes for pain, 6mg HYDROMORPHONE daily for break-through pain, 1.5 mg day CLONAZAPAM as sleep aid/anxiety and 1200 mg day GABAPENTIN for servered nerves,. I have been ADHD since childhood and none of the meds I am taking helps with the inability to function as a cognitive goal achieving, motivated person. I am habituated to my Narcs and am not affected by the typical side effects, nor do I experience euphoria, and I do use my meds as prescribed. My V.A. Doctor has referred me to mental health for evaluation and perhaps an ADDERALL prescription. I AM CONCERNED about the Adderall affecting the effectiveness of my Opiates to work as well as they still do for pain relief. Will the Narcotic and stimulate work against each other, or this even a safe idea?? In your opinion.

A doctor does have to be careful prescribing a medication, such as Adderall, when someone is taking opiates, because it can actually increase the efficacy of the opiates. They can be taken together, but the dosages must be very carefully considered for the patients safety.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of Adderall as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, irritability and weight loss, it also carries the risk of being habit forming.

Hey Missy would you happen to know who manufactured your last prescription for the generic Adderall? Most manufacturers offer patient assistance programs. This site also has a free discount card which individuals can bring with them to the pharmacy and it usually offers some savings on the script. I think it's something like 37% off in the case of generic Adderall. Anyways, if you would like to reply with the name of the generic manufacturer there should be a way to find their assistance program online. Hope this helps and best wishes!

I think my opioids work better with my Adderall but maybe it’s just because I generally feel better because my issues are being taken care of.
I’m not a doctor but I can’t think of any reason that the Adderall would decrease the benefits of the pain medication.
