Okay I will start off by saying this drug scares me because it has not been out for very long. I have Afrial Fib which is not behaving I can be 70 beats one min and regular and the next I will be at 190 and in atrial fib and flutter. this is my last chance at a med I have tried all the others I usually end up in the ER two or three times a week. I have had one ablation so far. If anyone else takes it please let me know what it is like. I am starting it on Tuesday.

Pat , I went off my Multaq April 15th after having an ablation done March 1st. I have not had any problems after going off medication or side effects and I have gotten some of my energy back. I know these Meds can react differently per individual sometimes. Going to be fitted for heart holter on June 13 and wear for 30 days. If all goes well and no signs of heart rhythm issues in that timeframe, I will be declared A-fib free. Good Health and happiness to you and all others that are dealing with this problem.

I started taking Multaq about 2 months ago. I have cvt tachycardia where my heart beat will be fine and then go up to 140, 150 went to 190 one day and scared me. Since taking the Multaq I don't have as many episodes nor do they last very long. I read online that if you cough, gag yourself or hold your breath and strain it helps them go away. I do one of those every time and I think it helps. The time mine went to 190 we called ambulance and they came and did a 11 lead EKG here at the house and then while transporting me, I coughed and it was like someone put a pin in me and let the air out and everything went back to normal. I think the medicine has helped me. At first I thought I was very nauseated and didn't feel good, but also had a bacteria so not sure if it was that or the medicine but I don't feel any side affects to my knowledge now. I am 77 years old, have COPD, Pulmonary Hypertension and lots of back problems. Hope this helps. There are coupons you can get for this medicine but if you have medicare they won't take the coupon. Anybody old has medicare, I don't understand. With my secondary insurance (CIGNA) I got a 3 month supply for $36 which I didn't think was bad since it was supposed to be expensive. There are coalitions out there that help with your copay. I have one for my Aempas that I take for my PH. They pay the whole thing and send it to me in the mail. Check around.

I have paroxsysmal a fib (years and months between episodes)--last 2 episodes required electrocardioversion. I have been on Metoprolol 50 mg /day 25 years and was recently started on Multaq and Xarelto. I was unable to tolerate Multaq until I DCed Metoprolol. My heart rate is about 50 and regular. I feel well and continue to exercise regularly (kick box, weight lifting, dancing, bicycling) and weifh 105 lbs. So far only positive things to report about Multaq (Dronedarone).

Debbie I had an ablation my second one on March 1st . I am currently off the Multaq. So far no a-fib.. I think I am having some fluttering at night. They said it was common to do that after the ablation. Go back in June for the heart halter to wear 30 days. If no episodes during that time , will declare me a-fib free. Keeping fingers crossed. Good health to everyone.

I just started this medicine a week ago. I haven't had an episode of high pulse like you mentioned. I do have some nausea some times and I was tired to begin with but that has gone away. It is keeping my pulse down lower and keeping from having the episodes.

After visiting the dermatologist fow dry...scaly skin and rash on my hands and legs...it was determine the cause was vascular....they wouldn't come out and say it was multaq, but I took myself off of it....two weeks later my skin was clearing....3 weeks it's almost cleared up totally....I had a couple of episodes with the ticker while taking multaq si I can't say it was any better than the other ones......I'm back on the Metatropol and doing okay....

Daisy, I'm so sorry to read about all of your health problems. I don't much about any of this since I'm new to the game, but I do hope that you find some relief and get back to a fairly normal life. God bless you!

Hi I have been on Multaq for a year. It has been a life saver for me. NO more A-Fib attacks. I was going to the hospital 2 to 3 times. Week. A few side effects but nothing I can't handle compared to my A-Fib attacks.some tiredness , once in a while some low blood sugar ( just make sure you eat something every 3 hours) If I don't eat plenty of food with Multaq sometimes my heart feels funny but nothing bad bad . My A- Fib was really bad , had to go to the hospital every time I had an attack now I'm free from that. Have not had any side effect as scary as my A- Fib . Good luck to you. I hope it works as well for you as it does for me. God bless

Yes I have had low blood sugar since taking Multaq but I just make sure I eat every 3 hours. I will take this and other side effects that I have compared to having a fib attacks. Multaq has worked wonders for my a fib they are completely gone. No more trips to the hospital .

I would recommend a second opinion by an unrelated doctor.

The failed ablation should be an invitation to try again. My ablation worked but I had severe bleeding into my leg. If I need another I will try the through the arm. Both rocedures are available at MEDSTAR in DC

I have been on Multaq for five years. Just had my blood work done recently. Liver panel was okay. Just make sure you have lab work periodically. If Multaq will help me to have less episodes until I have my ablation then I am sticking with it.

I had Afib for about 2 years. My AF turned into Flutter while on vacation. I had no strength and could barely raise my head to look out of the trailer. I had to drive home after delivering the trailer to storage. At home I immediately went to my acupuncturist, Dr Jun. He controlled the flutter a day at a time until I made it into surgery. Dr Lee removed enough of the spurious tissue inside the vein in my atria that the flutter stopped.I no longer take meds for AF and have been able to exercise freely and without restrictions. Age76

I was recently diagnosed with AFib. I'm 51. I've been on Multaq since 9/6/15 and have experienced fatigue and muscle weakness. I've been reading about it being toxic to the liver and am considering taking my chances with the AFib with no medicine. Has anyone done that?

Carolann,
I took Multaq for 4+ yrs. For me it was the best drug. After 4 yrs. it stopped working. I am now back on Amiodorone. That was the original drug I was started on 12+ yrs. ago. I highly recommend this drug, no side effects!

Daisy I am also on Multaq. Been on it over five years but I am 65 with A Fib. I started having more episodes last fall and had a radio frequency ablation in December. I happened to be in the percentile that it did not work the first time. My episodes are not as bad as before but I am still having them. I never have any energy anymore. I force myself to grow through the motions of everyday life. I can't stay in bed the rest of my life. My housework that I used to do in a day takes me two days now. I try to look on the bright side of things at least I am on this side of the grass. Hope things go better for you Daisy. May you get the answers you are looking for. God Bless
