Do you still get 15 mg of morphine time released if you cut it in half first? I took a whole one this morning and it didn't stop my pain at all.
I was taking morphine 15 mg 2 time's a day. Along wih norco10/325 1.an half a day. It was fine Dr changed morphine to 30 mg 1 every 12 hours. Wondering why the chang. Did not discuss with my Dr. ?
I dont see why your Doc can not prescribe you to take 15mg Morphine ER 3Xs a day. My doc prescribed it as 1 every 8 hrs with Norco 10/325 in between for break through pain. Blew my shoulder out in 2012. Have had 3 attempted repair surgeries since then. Now I am told that everything is torn out again and its filled with Arthritis yet we cant do another surgery for 4-5 more years because of all of the trauma in the last 4 yrs...

Hi! I always take 16mg ER in the morning and 24 mg ER in the evening to help through the night, then hydromorphone 2mg immediate release up to 4x day. I too cannot take oxycodone. I also take .5mg Xanax for the panic attacks and 10mg flexeril muscle relaxer as needed. Sometimes I don't take any Xanax or flexeril for two weeks. When the pain is unbearable I take my normal morphine, a couple Xanax and 1 or 2 flexeril and I relax or sleep through the pain. There are many times where I just sleep for 2-3 days for the most part and it seems to give my body a reset, not in as much pain anymore. I just had to come to the conclusion that "this is my life" and I do things when I can and do nothing when I hurt too much. I've had about 70% of my pain tolerable using this method since December 2013 and am not changing anything (since I was changed meds over 10 times in the past 7 years and pain shots in neck and back.). Good luck!!
Hello, Kelly! How are you?
Under the new directives from the DEA, probably not.
However, you could speak to her about adding a regular release Morphine as a breakthrough medication to help get better control of your pain. Whether or not she does is up to her, though.
The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Is there anything else I can help with?
