Mixing Vicodin With Alcohol
(Newest replies first)

I take 10 mg hydrocodone daily. I binge drank Saturday night and have been sick in bed with a tremendous hangover for 3 days. Anyone else experienced this?

There is a definite Russian Roulette quality about binge drinking and taking Vicodin. You may get away with it for awhile, but you've upped your chances of dying proportionalely by continuing this practice.
And it could come at a time when you're feeling fine and least expect it! That's what some of the "near-misses" report anyway.
Please be careful with the hydrocodone. I had a family member who became addicted to it (and drank with it as well). He was trying to get off of it (it is very addictive) and became suicidal. Such a horrible loss to our family. Take care.
It is a possibility that you may be experiencing withdrawal effects of the hydrocodone, depending on how long you have been taking the med. Alcohol has a tendency to dehydrate and flush opiates out of the system quicker leading to a quicker onset withdrawal symptoms of an opiate withdrawal, which would explain the three days of being sick, opiate withdrawal typically the first 2-3 days as the opiate leaves the body the user becomes very sick, nausea, headaches, hot/ cold flashes, fever, diahrea, sweats, vomitting, stomach aches, loss of appetite, sleep deprivation, restless leg syndrome, dry mouth and throat, sometimes severe constipation followed by painful bowel movements for very hard solid stool (often referred to as sh**ing a brick), mental pain as well such as depression and anxiety, symptoms and side effects very from how often and how large of dosages of opiates consumed.
Vicodin is a combination of hydrocodone and acetaminophen (Tylenol). Some people take Vicodin and drink alcohol to intensify the effect of the hydrocodone. Unfortunately, mixing alcohol and acetaminephin WILL lead to liver damage and eventual liver failure (cirrhosis), which is often fatal. There are warnings on Tylenol or OTC acetaminephin specifically alerting users NOT to take it with alcohol.
If you do take a narcotic with alcohol, Percodan (oxycodone and aspirin) NOT Percocet (oxycodone and acetaminephin) would be the safer alternative, though stomach bleeding or ulceration are the possible side effects.
Well, mixing alcohol with prescription drugs is NEVER a good idea, it can enhance the side effects and cause exactly what you're experiencing, especially with a narcotic such as Hydrocodone.
It is possibly it's been caused by something else, but highly doubtful.
Have you tried consulting your doctor?
