hi to all ive been on mirtazapine for a few months now and i had a drug test a few week ago and its came back positive for amphetamins i dont do drugs except what my doctor gives me im tryin to find any info on internet but no luck thanx for any replies

Thank you. My doctor told me the same thing. That it would not show up on a drug screen.

Im not a doctor but i have been in different therapies and you really need to keep talkin.. what u say and talk about is just what officer need to deal with and handle as it happens. waiting and stuffing all these emotions well it causes you more harm. Your city appreciates all the work you done. Be a mentor to a new officer. Good luck

Are you able to link me to any research showing information about false methamphetamine positive?

My son has tested positive on two tests and risks imprisonment. Therefore, any advice would be appreciated.

Hi I am too taking it for sleep,and depression im tested weekly and ive never gave a false positive im glad I know now in case it happens to me as my doctor is very strict pls let me know wat it shows up ass

I am on mirtazapine (30mg) and I have had positive tests for benzos although I don't take drugs this has resulted in me losing my driving license for a year it's very frustrating as the dvla states you must be drug free for a year with3months to go I got another false positive for benzos it's really deflating and has made me really depressed the doctor said he has to go with the test I have now come of mirtazapine 2 weeks ago and my depression is getting worse I feel so let down

I think you have a severe case of post traumatic stress.. You need lots of counseling and probably some type of depression medication too. My doctor told me if I did not do both at the same time it would not work and he was absolutely right. He used to be a old military doctor before he became a family doctor. You need to work through all the trauma you have been through and need to face allot of the fears you have somehow. Allot of your anger believe it or not comes from the post traumatic stress. I lived through post traumatic stress and it is Hell on Earth. It makes you feel an extreme amount of fear, like your life or someone else's is in danger every second of the day, it makes you extremely angry because you cannot control the fear that you are going through and cant stop the thoughts going through your mind 24/7, every second of the day, and this goes on for years until you can overcome it. Also what makes you so angry, is you are living the trauma everyday instead of being able to live life as it is right now. The medication you are taking I think is just allowing all this trauma to surface in your life. I wish you the best. This is extremely hard to get through, but it can be done. It took me 7 and a half years to overcome. I hope this helps you somehow. Wish you the best in everything you do!!!

I have been taking mirtazapine for 10 years and I take drug tests all the time for my job in the healthcare field and I have NEVER tested positive for anything. And I've been known to have a vivid dream or two but nothing like what's being portrayed in these posts. I take 30 mg tabs every night... I wake up every morning refreshed and very rested.. ready to take on the day..I swear by mirtazpine and believe that like any medication it effects all people differently... it just happens to do wonders for me and I think it's the best med they ever came out with...

My brother. I too was LEO for 23 years and retired as an detective on the gang unit at LAPD. I now unfortunately have severe Ptsd from my law enforcement time as well as my military service as a navy corps man. I have finally found the best combo for me. It is ativan and Paxil. The Xanax did nothing for me. Ativan was the key. I am far from feeling normal but I can now at least enjoy my family and go outside. Hope this helps. I will be praying for you. Take care.

I am on 30mg of Martazpine. I also am on Oxycontin 40mgs and oxyxodone 10hcl mgs. I also take Lorazepam 1mg 3xs a day. My Doctor added the the Martazpine to go with the Ambient 10mg I'm on. All my meds are legal and taken as prescribed. I called the doctor and the pharmacy when I read about these false positives. He said no data has been found to support false positives. I don't believe it now after reading these comments. I immediately stopped taking the Martazpine ASAP. Can anyone share any info. I liked taking it because I slept.

Mirtazipine caused Benzo to be positive apparently its possible... I demanded an immediate redo with a nurse watching my collection of urine because I was upset with that result.. Especially being pregnant..second test submitted not even hour later was negative... They said Mirtazipine was culprit.

I'm taking this medication plus a bunch of other junk. I've never tested positive until I got a call this week saying I had cocaine in my urine test. I do not do illegal drugs. I'm too sick to be doing stupid stuff. I'm very upset and confused now!

I suggest you Google mirtazipine and read carefully all the side affects. I suffered severe damages taking this medication for over 3 yrs. I stop this medication and now my body pain and breathing is getting a little better, my dizziness my eye blurring vision is still with me. My hands swollen and feeling like fever In them still hurt but is easing some. Aggitation still have, still talking crazy in my sleep and doing weird things in my sleep ate still happening as I'm still trying to heal of 3 yrs of damage. Tjetes much more I suffer. But I suggest you give it a look. Doctors run you through the mill trying to figure out what all is wrong with you , when the reason your urine is k and you can't urinate right is this medication...mertazipine. check it out. Eyes blurring , read up on this please.

Be careful, meds like zantac can make you test positive for meth. It happen to my daughter. I'm on stomach pill, and mirtazapine along with another bunch of meds. Also just found out, doctors get an incentive to get you off your meds...hmmmm this is very upsetting to me, as I'm not on illegal drugs, yet I failed a drug test 1st time in my life, at age 45. Not cool or fair.

I`ve been travelling for work for over 8 years and subjected to many random drug and alcohol tests. There has been a number of times I have had a positive for methamphetamine but was cleared upon further investigation. I`ve been on Mirtazapine for that time due to bad insomnia and just been prescribed Mogadon (Benzodiazepine). No one in any of those tests would tell me what was causing the false positives and it isn't until doing my own research I`ve found out the Mirtazapine is the most likely culprit. This is so annoying as my bosses were also wondering what the issue was. If I had known about this much earlier it could have solved a few issues. The frustrating this is being accused of using drugs when I know I have not. I have always supplied my list of meds for every test and even started taking in the cut packaging to show I have been prescribed these meds. Tired of being treated like a liar and I have another possible test for work suitability tomorrow.

I can understand a lot of those feelings. I would love to chat sometimes just to have someone that wouldn't look down on me for having those same feelings after going through some PTSD.

I`m not convinced on that claim of doctors having incentives to get you off the meds. I`d suggest you look into Rockefeller Medicine and see what has been going on since the 1920`s. What business reaping the benefits of Billions of dollars would cut their own throat by going against that which supplies the entire industry funding? Curious about where you may have seen that claim made. Have you got a link to that source?

I'm on 45mg nightly for bipolar/ sleep. Personally I'm not bipolar, but how you gonna argue with a shrink, and not prove his point!? Anyways he started me on 150mg. Bad nightmares.. mostly about hell. Lowered me to 45mg. Still nightmares. When I told him, he says most ppl do. AND THAT WAS THAT. SO I quit taking. Now I'm due a blood test, and quite possibly another argument ABT a drug I do not like taking.

I have had a drug panel (i.e. urine test) which I failed and came up positive for cocaine which I don't take, but I'm currently on mirtazapine 15mg tablets for depression. In result to my urine test I was finished off my job which I'm quite annoyed about as I don't take drugs.
