Michigan Need Help

I broke my neck in 2001 and have nerve damage. It took 5 or 6 years to finally find something that allowed me to work and function. My great dr. Of 17 yrs left his practice , now I can't find anyone to see me let alone prescribe me my medication. I have never abused my medication but I am left to fend for myself. Don't know what to do in northern michigan.

Due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, if you require medications on a long-term ongoing basis for the treatment of chronic pain, you'll need to see a pain management specialist, a general practice doctor won't be able to prescribe it for you.

As to finding a new doctor, you can't really approach it from looking for a doctor that will prescribe medications. Doctors are taught to view that as drug seeking behavior, so most won't even let you get in the door for an appointment. You really just need to set up an appointment with a new doctor, make sure they get a full copy of your current medical records and then discuss your treatment options at the actual appointment. Once they can see what has and hasn't worked for you in the past, as documented by a fellow physician, they will be more prone to prescribe accordingly.

Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area?
