Metoprolol Succinate Er 25 - Blood Pressure & Pvcs

I was prescribed metoprolol succinate ER 25 because I get irregular heartbeat sometimes in which they said may be PVCs. It normally Happens if I have caffeine or anxiety. He said I can cut in half to start off because I am worried it will lower my blood pressure, normally it runs a little low about 100-110/ 60s ... Any advice ? I want to try it but nervous my bp will fall.

If your doctor said you can start with half, then that may be a good idea.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hair loss.

Avoiding caffeine would be easy, but unfortunately, anxiety can't be avoided so easily.

As to your blood pressure falling, it's not a worry, unless it causes you problems, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and/or fainting. Otherwise, the standard theory is: the lower the better… short of being dead, of course.

Are you on any other medications?
