Metoprol Tar Side Effects

I have been taking metoprol for about 9 months. Ever since I started on this drug my toes at night tingle, feel numb, and when I get up to use the bathroom, my toes look blueish purple. I told the cardiologist, and he said, I could have the choice of tingly, blue toes, or have the pvc's. I am on 25 mg, twice per day.

Hi, Carrol! Sorry about the problem that you're having.

Issues like that are typical of beta blocker medications. However, I really don't like when doctors say that type of thing to people, it makes it seem like this is the only medication you can try to treat your PVCs and that is not true.

While there is a chance that another one may cause the same thing, there is also a chance that it won't, so they are usually worth trying, unless there is some specific reason you cannot do so.

I've dealt with doctors like that in the past myself and it always frustrated me to no end. I am much happier now that I finally have dicots that listen and understand that some people are sensitive to medications, so they let me try various ones, until we found what worked, without also making me completely miserable.

If your current cardiologist doesn't want to even try to work with you, you may want to get a second opinion.
