Metoprol Tar 25 Mg

I was put on metoprol tart 1/2 of 25mg once a day in the hospital after breaking out in a purple dot rash all over my trunk and extreme itch. The Dr in hospital said I was allergic to previous BP med's cardizemCD 180 once a day. Now rash is cleared up but still onmetoprolol tart. My BP is very low Adverage is 115/70 P66 Any advice is welcome. Thanks

I was recently placed on Metoprol Tar 25mg for high blood pressure. This is the first time I have taken medication for HBP. Any info about these drugs is welcome since I feel they are just being administired for the benefit of drug companies and doctors. Info on side effects is also welcomed. Thank You.

I am not sure exactly what advice the first poster wanted, that is not a dangerously low blood pressure or heart rate, so it seems the Metoprolol is working well, but not too well and if there was an allergy to the other medication, then obviously a switch needed to be made.

As to the information wheelerdavid is asking about, that is not true. If you have high blood pressure, it is very dangerous if left untreated. You could suffer a stroke, heart attack or congestive heart failure if it remains high.

You may be able to lower it through proper diet and exercise, but that can take time and a medication or two is usually needed for awhile to help bring it down faster.

The side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain.
