Methadone Mixed With Klonopin (Top voted first)

I have been on Methadone for 7 months and im currently at 65mgs, I have been having anxiety attacks for the past 2 weeks, im curious if it would be safe to take .5 of klonopin without dying ?

Are you a doctor; because if not, you shouldn't be giving this type of health advice. This isn't me being rude - this is an educated reply based on my own experiences. I've been on oral methadose ( the liquid form of methadone) for 8 months now, I am on 75mls. Having said that, I also take SEVERE panic attacks - on a 1 to 10 scale measuring how severe the attacks are, mine are an off the chart 11.5; they make me feel like my heart will almost certainly explode, & I am about to die at any moment. I have gone to the emergency room at my local hospital via ambulance way too many times to count, and at this point my attacks have managed to successfully control and ruin my life. At my very wits end 2 days ago my doctor prescribed me one .5mg PRN of Clonazepam (or Klonapin as it is known as in the USA) a day, as needed. The doctor knew about me being on methadose & he still felt that this was the best coarse of action to take. So, in turn, yes you can take a benzo and methadone together. Not in high doses obviously, & not recreational use (it must be prescribed under doc's orders) But you can, Safely, take panic/anxiety based medications. Yes, its true that I still have lots of anxiety, but not nearly as many full blown attacks. This medication combination is working & for that I am soooooooo tttthankful !!

I was taking Valium for 41 years prescribed by my physician. I quit taking the Valium one year ago. 7 months ago I entered a Methadone Clinic and am taking 70 mgs. I have been struggling with Anxiety Attacks recently and have tried different Meds. To try and stop the Attacks. Today I took a 5mg Valium as I was in desperate fear of the Anxiety Attack as never before. Is it possible to continue taking my Methadone and a 5mg Valium or another benzodiazepine only when I can't get the attack under control? I w/d myself off the Valium cold turkey and am in no way trying to go back on them. I am 57 and only want to live without addiction controlling me. But, at this age and stage in life I only want to take something when I've tried everything else. Please help me answer my question

Most clinics prohibit the concurrent use of any benzodiazepine despite legitimacy, dose or condition.Upon admission you signed a clinical agreement if it's prohibited it would be included in that handout. Most are aware the mixing of benzos and methadone can be lethal in very small quantities... unfortunately clients are forced to choose one or the other.more people are discharged from clinics due to benzodiazepine use then for any other reason......

You can, as long as your doctor has prescribed them both for you. But you do need to be aware that it increases sedation, when you combine them.

The FDA warns that Klonopin carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability.
