I found a doctor I love but he doesn't know I'm on Methadone. He prescribes me 90 Xanax whichwhichneed because of severe anieyy. Should I tell him or will he dump Mr as a patient

Pam, Are you talking about Vicodin when you say VICS? If you are what the Dr told you is BS

I was in a methadone clinic and having a script for Xanax was okay. I am now going to a doctors office for my methadone pills and I'm not sure about the Xanax. I know no Vics because I had a script for that and he told me federal guidelines would not permit that.

I always say that it's best to be upfront and honest, especially if you truly like this doctor and want to gain long term trust. Not telling your doctor about this will probably remain on your mind and be a burden every time you visit him/her.

Personally, I think if you suffer from anxiety/depression and need a Benzodiazepine class medication (like Klonopin (Clonazepam) or Xanax), your best bet it usually to see a psychiatrist, rather than a regular medical doctor. They are better trained in the types of medications that handle these problems and can also help you treat the underlying cause of your anxiety or depression, as opposed to covering up the feelings and emotions with medication; unless you decide that you're ok with only treating the symptoms for as long as they persist...

I'm stating this based on personal experience with severe depression for over 2 years, and covering it up can help you get by temporarily, but not indefinitely. I know anxiety is a bit different, but the same concept remains.

Additionally, if you had told your doctor about this, he or she may have been able to make you aware that there is an interaction between Methadone and Xanax. This interaction states the following:

MONITOR: Central nervous system- and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients.

MANAGEMENT: During concomitant use of these drugs, patients should be monitored for potentially excessive or prolonged CNS and respiratory depression.

If any case, letting your doctor in on what you're taking is more for your own safety than anything. I hope this info helps!
