I had bunion surgery 7 wks ago. my foot is still swolen and in a lot of pain. I took my 1st 15 mg Meloxicam last evening and was wondering how long it takes to take effect. Also it seems that most people have been prescribed Meloxicam for muscle pain and arthritis do you think it's appropriate for me since mine is an acute injury? I'm a bit fearful of taking this med due to it's possible side effects.

The FDA classifies Meloxicam as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that is used to treat pain, fever and swelling, so yes, it can also be used for problems such as yours.
Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation.
It should have some pain relief properties shortly after taking it, but it may take a few days to help with the swelling.
