My husband takes Lotrel 10 -20. He consumes more then 7 oz of hard liquor a day. What are the side effects of mixing the large amount of alcohol and medication.
Lotrel is a combination medication that's most commonly used to help lower high blood pressure, it contains Amlodipine and Benazepril.
Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, hypotension and stomach pain.
You can learn more Lotrel details here.
And there are several concerns that could be associated with taking it and drinking so much alcohol. The first is an aggravation of the side effects, so they could be made much worse than they normally are.
Additionally, to a point alcohol can lower blood pressure, so his may start going too low, but in high amounts it can also push blood pressure the other direction, causing it to be dangerously elevated.
And the next issue is that high amounts of alcohol can be cardiotoxic, so on top of his cardio system already being taxed by the high blood pressure, he's stressing it even further by adding a lot of alcohol.
Are there any other comments or questions?
Is there anything I can help with?
