Lisinopril Tablets (Page 2)

I have been taking Lisinopril 20 mg from manufacturer Lupin for years. My most recent renewal was the same color and Lupin on one side and 20 on other but the pill is half the size of the one I have been getting. Still says Lupin but I am concerned. Anyone notice the difference?

Pharmacists just don't know. We must advise them and have them also contact Lupin Pharm. I am feeling so sick from those rotten small Lisinopril pills

Walgreens did it on the fly, without consulting my doctor. I'll have to file through insurance myself, but it's worth it. 4 doses now and the Sandoz version doesn't seem to have any negative side effects. My dizziness is nearly gone, too, so it's been a quick adjustment for me.

I called the manufacturer (Lupin) and filed an extensive report. They never had the courtesy to call me back. I suggest we all switch to another manufacturer. They will feel it in their pocketbook.

Glad I found this thread. I knew I wasn't crazy when I saw the smaller pills, but the pharmacist dismissed my suspicions. I haven't felt different yet--but it's only been a day. I'll monitor how I feel in the next few.

I did find out from the pharmacist that the 5mg pill did not change in size/filler. I am only on 10 mg PO QD so the pharmacist suggested that my PCP call the prescription at 5 mg 2 PO QD. My PCP agreed. I was on the 10 mg smaller pill for 30 days exactly with significant side effects. I changed to the 5 mg (2) PO QD last week and have felt exceeding normal. I suppose this is a fine fix until they change the 5 mg tablet.

I too am glad to see this post.I went looking, as I have had the feeling that my new, small lisinopril pills do not prevent my blood pressure from elevating. I am getting headaches,flushed feelings, throbbing, full sensations in my ears. All symptoms I've only had when I have forgotten to take my pills in the past. When I first noticed the pill size had changed I phoned the pharmacy they assured me it was the correct pill. After seeing all these comments, all with similar issues, that would seem they could be life threatening in some cases, I have called Lupin. Next I will be finding a different medication, and finally I hope to reduce my calories and salt intake so I can do without medication for hypertension all together. I recommend that everyone who is having issues to document their complaints in writing, and email or mail them to signifigant people in their lives in case something happens. I think a recall will eventually come about and dated documents may be important.

Exactly Daisy. I called Lupin and they seemed to La La the situation. They won't admit the screw up but I have been forced to change to a different medication. Can't continue with Lisinopril that is hurting me

I just recently got a refill of 10 mg. Lisinopril. I thought at first that the pharmacy had changed the manufacturer when I opened the bottle and the pill was so small. I asked the pharmacist and he said that was all they were sent. I told him this new prescription was making me feel weak, lethargic, and causing me to have chest pain. I asked him to look up the manufacturer of the previous refill I had gotten and he said it was Lupin. I've never taken anything else and I've been on this for 10 years. I don't know what they changed but I am very concerned.

I'm having the same thing along with weakness. Something HAS to be wrong with that medication. I've been on it for 10 years and haven't had a problem. It's very upsetting.

Having taken lisinopril 20mg twice daily for many years, supplied by Wal-mart Home Delivery, I was dismayed to find that the pill size in my recent order has decreased by half, although the strength is purportedly the same. The new pill is barely distinguishable from the hydrochlorothiazide pill I take at the same time every morning and the two are easily confused. Although the two pills are a slightly different color, both are pale --one pink and the other peach, it requires an eagle's eyes to differentiate between the two -- which I, at 81, do not have.

In calling the Wal-mart pharmacy to ask if it would be possible to get the original size pill in future orders I was told that the manufacturer, Lupin, has discontinued it and because they have a long-term contract with Lupin, there is nothing they can do. They did give me Lupin's phone number however, and I phoned their customer service today to report my dissatisfaction with the new pill size. I was transferred to their medical division and the individual I spoke to there was extremely thorough in documenting my complaint, asking a host of questions about the specific pill's color, shape, lot no., expiration date, NDC no., dispensing pharmacy phone and address, etc., etc., with particular attention to any adverse effects I might have experienced on the smaller pill (none so far, although I've only taken them for three days). The Lupin rep said all the info would be passed on to upper management.

I was very impressed with the interest shown in my complaint by Lupin and would strongly urge other lisinopril users -- especially those who ARE experiencing adverse effects on the smaller pill --to phone the company; the number is 1-800-466-1450.

The Lupin rep explained that the active ingredient remains the same while the fillers have been greatly reduced, resulting in a substantial savings for the company not only in reduced materials required but also in its ability to produce a greater quantity of smaller pills with no increase in labor costs for manufacturing, packaging and shipping. This of course makes rational economic sense for the company, but without customer feedback how are they to know the far-reaching effect of their product-revision decisions that may seem inconsequential to them but may have major consequences for the ultimate consumers of the product? Consumers need to call!

I have been forced to change to Losartan 50 mg twice a day. Lupin is covering their back but all the feedback I am receiving tells me they screwed with the formula. People are having adverse reactions left and right

I also received the new smaller pill. I called the manufacturer and they told me they decreased the size of the pill by taking the "filler" out of the pill, and said it was still the same dosage. My blood pressure was perfect for years, until they changed the size of the pill. My ankles are so swollen, and my cardiologist took my pressure today, and it was extremely high. She's very concerned. It takes many years to find a few medications that keep your blood pressure under control, and now the manufacturer is playing with our lives.

exactly same happened to me For years took lisinopril 20 mg and BP was perfectly regulated Then Lupin messed with the pill making it smaller and they claim exactly the same But that is a lie Too many people are having adverse reactions I was forced to change to losartan but not getting job done It may take a long time until i am regulated again

I just opened my refill for Lisinopril 20 mg by Lupin Pharmaceuticals and found the pill to be half the size as my previous Rx's. The color and imprints were the same as always but the size difference was notable. I immediately called Walgreens to ask about the above. The pharmacy technician confirmed the size change. However, as a nurse, I was still not completely satisfied and stated that it would have been nice to know that when I had received the refill. In fact, a label on the bottle explaining the change in size would have worked as well. I called Lupin Pharmaceuticals but they only work Monday through Friday from 9-5. So I went to their website to find the answer and see that other people were having the same questions. I would like to know the reason for the change in size, but let me guess first. I have no doubt that it is a cost cutting mechanism as are most things that change. Secondly, I would think that every pharmacy should be required to either label or verbally explain all changes to all medications.

Been taking 10mg of lisinopril for more than 15 years. My last refill came half the size of my previous order and I've been feeling lousy for the past 2 weeks. All of a sudden my normal pressure is now off the charts. Something is very wrong. Have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and plan to get off of these pills.
PS: I have reasonly lost 20 lbs which should have helped lower my pressure not elevate it.

Personally, I will be calling Lupin Pharmaceuticals first thing Monday morning to inquire re changes to this medication. I have noticed that it is making me very sleepy whereas the original Lisinopril did not have that effect.
