I am appalled at some of the answers here. The one at the bottom of the page, and a couple more are accurate, but more of the answers show a high level of ignorance and lack of education. Here are some ways to get accurate information. Go to a hospital and ask someone to tell you about the pill. Many dug stores have urgent care centers; ask them. Ask the pharmacist at the Drug Store. Ask your doctor or possibly the school nurse. If you are afraid to ask what you might think is a stupid question, remember, that’s how you learn.

Wrong. It is a fake like so many other walmart things. If they are saying it is niacin, that should be reported to the FDA.

Ask your doctor before taking any of these antibiotics given to you by someone else for any infection including the tooth/jaw infection mentioned by someone. Whether a particular antibiotic is right for a particular infection depends on many factors, not the least of which is allergies. People do have allergies to some antibiotics. It is never a good idea to take your friend's or other family member's antibiotics. Some work on some infections in one part of the body and others only work on other infections in another part of the body, and others still will work in starkly different ways that take into account a person's own needs. Taking the wrong antibiotic at the wrong strength for the wrong amount of time won't cure anything for long and may actually cause worse problems if the person has allergies to certain types of meds. A lot of people don't know what allergies they have before they try something, hopefully at a much lower dose than some of these meds are offered. Why go for the kill pill with a small easily treated tooth infection?

NO! HIV is a virus. antibiotics don't work on viruses. That being said, the name "Lupin" is the name of the pharmaceutical company that makes that medicine. They make other medicines also that are not antibiotics. The color, shape, type, and number of the pill identifies which medicine it is. So, Lupin tells you nothing specific except the manufacturer.

You can search on google and click on one of the links that have official sounding medical urls and if you find names and pictures of pills, you are in the right place to find your pill.

If you want to ask all of the amateurs, good luck.

FYI, Lupin 250, 500, etc., white or green, caplets and capsules, it is a strong antibiotic which would work for a bacterial infection. For average infections, this is prescribed after the infection has become resistant to less powerful alternatives. But, it can be used for other types of infections, possibly in younger than average people, if it is a communicable infection such as a bacterial STI like syphilis or gonorrhea.

However, if a child has one or two, I would question the child about where he or she got them and why he or she might need a medicine for venereal diseases. If he has or thinks he has something and got the med off a friend, well... a doctor visit may be in order. But, if he thought grandmas pills would make him feel high, maybe identifying them as a med for a venereal disease will swear him off grandma's pills in the future.

If the pills are small, round and pink, smooth or speckled, with a two digit number like 10, 20, 30... it is lisinopril, a blood pressure medicine that is also sometimes prescribed for kidney disease, often diabetic kidney disease, but not exclusively. These pills could be a problem for kids to take since they could lower his blood pressure to a dangerous level if he took too many, particularly.

Most of the people taking these meds are older people. But, neither of the two I identified here would work on any virus for which another type of medicine would be needed.

Depends one the # on the pill and the shape/type/color of pill, long pill, round pill, capsule, colors, etc.

Lupin 10, 20, 30... are lisinopril 10mg, 20mg, 30mg, (small round and pink, with or without speckling) which is for blood pressure and "diabetic" kidney disease (with or without the diagnosis of diabetes obviously since they have been subscribed for me and I don't have diabetes; I do have what will probably work its way into kidney disease as time goes on. These are the "old-people" pills, sort of, if kids are swiping them. They are prescription and someone who does not have high blood pressure probably shouldn't take them recreationally. The person won't feel high but could lower his bp to a dangerous level if he took too many thinking he might.

If the pills are of the long white variety or the green two-tone capsules with 500, 250, 302, etc., on them, they are varieties of a strong antibiotic often given to people who have developed a drug resistant bacterial infection... also one of the "old people" types of pills. But, it is possible (I don't know) by the nature of it being an antibiotic that it could be used to treat some other bacterial infection such as some non-viral STI's, like Gonorrhea or Syphilis. It wouldn't work on those STI's that are caused by virus such as Herpes, HIV/AIDS, etc. The only real problem in that case if the kid takes it to supposedly feel high is that he won't and may actually get sick to his stomach -- pretty strong stuff. The number tells the dosage again in milligrams, at least for the 500. The 302 is a differently named antibiotic in the same family as the others, and I am unsure about that 2 at the end. The number on that one may not be the milligrams like the others.

With the STI's, it is possible that a kid might seek the care and hide it from the parent as one might do regarding birth control or pregnancy. But, it is also possible that a kid could just be scared and taking the pills from friends *thinking* he has something, particularly if he is young enough to be more embarrassed and confused by such things, or it could be one or more kids raiding grandma's medicine cabinet without knowing that the medicines are not very exciting at all.

If it were my young kid, I would open with the idea that it is an antibiotic for venereal diseases and would spell out that word all the way, especially if I believed that the child was being negatively influenced by other kids thinking they are trying to feel high off them. The idea that the pills cure STI's would be awesomely embarrassing, would get around to all the other kids by one hour after the start of school the next day, and no kid would be taking grandma's pills anymore -- at least not those. hehehe. Sometimes, it works to play with the fears a tiny bit. And, it could be for something like that in addition to all the other stuff it might cure.

Be aware, if you find that your child is in possession of any capsule pills and you know that it's nothing that was prescribed to the child... Some are taking capsules apart, emptying them, and filling with molly or other street drugs.

The light green/dark green capsule with the word LUPIN twice on it is a 500mg NIACIN pill. Teenagers use them to clean their system after smoking cannabis. You can buy them at Walmart

I was prescribed them for a abscess tooth. I would like to point out that if you can get on here with your SHOUTY CAPITALS than you can most certainly GOOGLE the numbers and name etched into ANY PILL and find out EVERYTHING there is to know about it!!! There is no reason to put your personal problems/health/trust issues with yourself or your children all OVER THE INTERNET! For heaven sakes!! How did our parents raise us without the internet and drama!

Cephalaxine is NOT a controlled substance. Obviously it's an antibiotic. Yes, it can treat and cure, if taken correctly, bacterial STDs (gonorrhea, chlamydia, etc). No, it cannot treat viral STDs (herpes, HIV, etc), for which there are other treatments but no currently available cure. Lastly, if you found Cephalaxine in your daughters belongings, while there is not a cause for immediate concern, I would question where she obtained the pill and explain that antibiotics are not for short term use and should never be taken sans a prescription or for a shorter period of time Nathan prescribed, lest immunity become a factor as has happened in many of todays adults.
