Lexapro Withdrawal And Dizziness
(Newest replies first)

Hi, I am currently in my 4th week of being off lexapro. I had all the horrific withdrawal symptoms which most have subsided. The only one I have left is the dizziness. Its not an all day dizziness like it was but waves of dizziness that come and go. Has anyone else had this side affect for this long?

Yes I am currently off lexapro for 18 days and am still experiencing dizziness, no appetite, headaches, flu like symptoms and more but each day is slightly better. I gained 35 pounds in 4 months but off 12 days and lost 10 pounds. I'm better but its a struggle I'm winning
I had been on Lexapro for 3 years, I had tremondous anxiety on it and dizziness. I'm also 4 weeks off Lexapro the dizziness has gotten better, but the anxiety is horrendous, it's unbearable, anybody dealing with this, I refuse to go back on, I was worse.
I have had the same thing as well with withdrawal, I was only on it for about 6 weeks. I stopped after lowering the dose from 10mg which i was on for about 8 days then dropped to 5mg for 8 days then to 2.5mg for a few days and them to half of that for a few days until i could not split the pills up anymore. Each step down had different side affects, now after being off for about 2 weeks I have some lightheadedness / dizzy at times. I as well had lost 18 pounds while on the medicine and still have some nasty GI issues to boot.
How long did your symptoms last?
yes but it didn't last longer than a week or two. I did a very small taper, like at some points less than a mg drop. Hang in there!
Yes. I have been in withdrawl from lexapro. I had horrible symptoms. I hope you stayed off it.
I go even slower. From 20mg to 10mg for eight weeks to 5mg for four to six weeks, then 2.5mg for four weeks to 2.5mg every other day. If I feel good after one to two weeks I stop.
Wellbutrin has done wonders to counteract Lexapro side effects. This time I am taking a full dose of Wellbutrin and have no withdrawals whatsoever. No brain zaps or dizziness.
Lexapro for many years and every time go off terrible dizziness -- more of a labrinthitis so I feel the dizziness when I turn my head and also will "feel" as if salt shaken on my ear drum. In my experience you will need to try a very very very slow taper over 2 months or so. It is well reported. Many people experience. Doctors don't always seem to know about it. You can get off but it will take a while. Cut down by half every week and then once down to 5 mg daily go to every other day for two weeks and then every third day etc. the other way is to just take 5 or 10 mg when the withdrawal is bothering you. You'll. probably end up taking every 3 or 4 days.
Did you do a slow taper down on dosage? In my experience you cannot taper down too slowly.
Hello Wendi! How are you?
Yes, I actually had that when I stopped Zoloft, after being on it for several years due to a misdiagnosis. It lasted about 8 weeks, before finally stopping.
Has it improved any? I just kept noticing a gradual improvement, until it finally stopped.
