Lexamil 10mg Questions

Hi, I've just started taking Lexamil 10mg 2 days ago, for the first time. I found that it made me extremely sleepy and slowed my movements as well slurring speech and it feels as though I'm on a high. I didn't take it today and opted to rather take it at night. Would it still help the way it should if I take it at night? My Dr also said that it would make me gain weight (which I am happy about) but it seems to have decreased my appetite and I actually don't feel hungry. Will this change after the initiation period of about 2 weeks? Your help is appreciated. Thanks.

I found that sleepiness was a side effect I experienced for the first month of taking it. I was hungry all the time and I felt spaced out. I halved my dose after 2 months of this and all the symptoms stopped. I'm feeling more grounded on less and it assists with my anxiety well. It does not react well with alcohol so I would avoid that most definately.

Drowsiness and sluggishness can be normal side effects of this medication, which contains the active ingredient Escitalopram, the NIH lists other side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and mood changes.

There is no harm in taking it at night, as long as your doctor approves.

And yes, the side effects usually taper off, but it may take 4 to 6 weeks, if they don't improve, or if they get worse, you should consult your doctor, as this might not be the right medication for you.
