Ask your doctor to see if he/she will prescribe you a drug called Clonidine. This is used often in detoxes to lower blook pressure due to withdrawals from opiates and also to help with anxiety. If you can you can always try Clonazemap (Klonipin) or a much weaker type of Benzodiazepine called Attivan (aka Lorazepam) That is specifically for Anxiety. I have this problem on a all day basis and can barely survive the panic attacks relating to my anxiety issues. Hope this helps . Good Luck and hopefully i could help you feeel better soon. Peace and luv

It sure sound like you're getting too much. Try half or 3/4 of a tablet daily or even take in two devided doses, like half morning and half evening.

Sounds awful. Whenever I hear BURNING; consider nerve damage from the surgery. You said your levels come back normal. The doctors need to pursue different levels ie. they are not addressing your difficult adjustment.

Don't be afraid to find a new doctor (endocronolgist) for another opinon. Sounds like you're getting too much. The symptoms are similar those associated with an overactive thyroid - I had it. If you're on the high end of normal it may be too much for you. I had a subtotal thyroidictomy 25 years ago. Also... I take brand name synthyroid, not the generic version. Contrary to industry and medical statements the generic (at the same dosage levels) does not work the same for me, my brother or my Dad.

I have been taking this medicine for about 6 weeks and now my thyroid is overactive. My doctor took me off cold turkey which is causing horrible stomach problems and anxiety. any suggestions.

Wow, you are preaching to the choir. I was (possibly) the first case of juvenile Hashimoto's to ever be diagnosed, so I was a bit of a guinea pig. As a child, I had the same symptoms that you described in your post, but I called mine the squishy crunchies. Regular people cannot understand what that means, as they have never experienced the odd sensation.

100 mcg is not high, but sometimes it takes a while to adjust to it. Because my immune system destroyed my thyroid gland, I have been on a dosage between 150 and 200 mcg throughout my entire life. (I am over 30, if that helps.) I have experienced everything that you described, but to me the chest pains and elevated pulse (and prolapsed mitral valve) felt the scariest.

To ANGIE, post # 5: What makes you say that now your thyroid is overactive? Did you have a diagnostic test done, with blood work? Or is it a FEELING that you have...like if the car is in neutral but you are slamming on the gas? Let me know, I may be able to help.
