Klonopin Side Effects

I have been on Klonopin off and on for 3 years now, since my child was killed. It seems like when I end up taking it for anxiety and sleep problems, after it wears off I become Extremely moody and depressed. Does anyone else experience that effect from it?I am also on the antidepressant Paxil, but it doesn't seem to help the depression.. Thank You..

I too took PAxil for anxiety as a general everyday anxiety reducer. I only took the clonopin if I was having or about to have an attack as it immediately works to lessen the degree of the attack. My mothers anxiety was so bad so much of the time that she took clonopin every day for years-eventually though it will build a tolerance and not work as well. She now takes Effexor (The new one), very high dose and swears it is magic-.....I agree that the clonopin wears off quickly which is why I kind of save mine for emergency use, when Paxil just can't cut it. Also I have always been told that Paxil is not a good medication for depression disorders, mostly prescribed for anxiety. I've been told that Effexor has both anti-anxiety and anti-depressive attributes. Maybe that's why the Paxil works so good for me as I don't have depression, only anxiety. Good luck.

It is normal to have that effect once the drugs is out of your body. That is why these drugs are normally intended to be taken on a regular basis at set intervals.

I took Clanazipam for 2 years after my daughter, who has border line personality disorder, tried to commit suicide and then married some nut job she knew for only a month. Then came the lies of sexual abuse etc. 3 years later she's recanted but the experience left me an emotional mess. I used .5 mg of Clonazipam several times a day for 2 years. Once in a while if we were going out with friends to drink, I wouldn't take my evening or bedtime dose. I found that having a glass of wine or a cocktail once in a while wasn't dangerous. I took Celexa, which helped with the anxiety I was feeling. I've reduced my dosage to 10 mg/day which keeps me just right! I no longer need the Clonazipam but I did start Yoga a few times a week and have been tuning into the podcasts from Oprah's Eckhart Tolle's New Earth series.
