This is a topical pain reliever, the Ketoprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and the lidocaine is a topical anesthetic. The most common side effect is irritation of the area where it's been applied.

However, I don't know what the other inactive ingredients are, since it's compounded as you stated and that can vary from pharmacy to pharmacy.
