Kansas City Mo Pain Medication Prescribers (Page 3) (Top voted first)

Updated

I am uninsured and have a referral to a pain management clinic, but cannot afford the clinic. I would like to know of any cheap doctors who would prescribe the narcotic pain medication I need to be on in the Kansas City MO area.

We all have pain or wouldn't be here....but when you are lucky enough to get a Dr that will give you what you need or narcotic medicine, anymore YOU ARE lucky, there is so much stigma around the abuse, that there is no room for patients error...... just keep it in mind when you get a new one, and I did post a Dr below

I have been taking meds for severe lower back pain. I have been on meds for 7 years. I have been able to function with the meds and live a half way normal life. There are still things I can't do but for the most part I am able to somewhat function. I have been trying to find a doctor in the kc area my doctor has decided not to treat me and all i can find are drs who do only inj's. I have done the inj's for several years that gave me no relief, I have a tins unit it does not help. I know what has worked and meds are about the only way I can function. If anyone can help me I would be so great full. I have never abused my meds I only take what I need so a 30 day script will last me more than 30 day's. If anyone can help please share a name and number of a doctor who can help and that is taking new patients.

Kat, you are close to two very excellent consulting hypnotists and instructors of hypnosis. Look in the phone book and give them a call. Ask them if they know how to re-create pain medication or 'numb' certain body parts for you. If they say yes, you will need a referral from ANY licensed professional, i.e., chiropractor, psychologist, podiatrist, etc., etc. It should take no more than 3 sessions. Make sure they put time limits on it, like 23 hours/day so you will know you still have it but don't need pain meds. You are wasting your money on what doesn't work so do something that does work and has a very long track record of working. One i**** I know numbed a lady's knee that needed total replacement and thought she had done very well when in fact, she did great harm to her client.

Rhonda, since you have done the previous, call the Interventional Radiologists at your local hospital. They can put a gel between the discs that are rubbing together to stop that pain. How often will they do that? I don't know. The final last step is a back fusion which I would not wish on my worst enemy. Pain meds are a temporary solution to a long term problem. I know. I have it.

I found a dr that will write scripts but no morphine and very limited hydrocodone. No more than 4 perday. That means I can function with extreme pain for most of the day. I have to be able to go in for a ua at the drop of a hat and take my pills in for a pill count. My first visit I explained that it takes only 2 to 3 morphine pills and about 5 hydrocodone to have some kind of life. I saw a nurse practioner. Had the bedside manner of a rock! She knows everything and made me feel extremely stupid because they know what works for me and I don't. They had me get a back brace that will cost social security about $1000. It's useless because the brace stops above the pain line and justs puts pressure on the area that hurts. I know that the jerks who abuse the narcotics have made it extremely difficult for the people who truly need meds to function. I probably contacted over 50 doctors in the K C area and the very few meaning 2 or 3 that write scripts are no longer taking new patients. Dr Simon in overland park will write hydrocodone but no more than 4 a day. A little pain medication is better than extreme suffering. I may wind up being bed ridden. Not a life I want but what can I do. I wish everyone who need pain meds to function the best of luck finding a dr to write scripts. I understand what you are going through. Some people say a little help from pain meds are better than none. I say they shouldn't talk the talk unless they have walked a mile in our shoes ! Best wishes to everyone.

Rhonda, which arthritis? Find a Rheumatologist. They have great meds for arthritis. It's not going to fix what is bone on bone but it does help make life tolerable as it keeps inflammation down. Be well~Pood

Does anyone know of a walk in pain clinic in the St Joseph, mo area? I'm traveling and need an Rx.

Jz there are no walk in pain clinics. If you sighed a contract with your current Dr. you will be dismissed if the Prescription Monitoring Program in the state you're in connects to your home state.

I have Medicare and Medicaid, have been prescribed a low dose of opioid pain meds for chronic pain. I live in Kansas City Missouri, my Dr knows I need it but can't prescribe it. Only been in this for 4 Months. I blew a disc in my back. She gave me 2 refills in 5 weeks, life is back to laying in bed. Can anyone help?

okcgirl, no referral for regular Medicare. Medicare Advantage is different and the drs are limited.
