Just Started Celexa
UpdatedMy doc put me on Celexa for depression. 10 mg. I took it two days in a row last week and I swear it made me feel sick and I felt like a zombie... So I stopped. Then after talking to a couple other doctors decided I should give it another try. I am now on day three and I feel very sad and have no motivation for anything. I feel like s***. I can't feel this way...I am a single mom of three and two of my children have special needs. I think I am going to stop taking them again. Could I be getting side effects from the Celexa or is my depression getting worse? Also last night when I was driving I was having a hard time concentrating. Also I noticed a difference when having intercourse :( I don't see anything good about this med.

Hang in there! I have been through the same things and promise it gets better. You should keep in close contact with your doctor. I was started on 20mg Celexa and it helped but not enough. My doctor increased the dosage to 40mg and I can't say I'm anxiety/depression free but I feel like myself again. These types of medications are not something that will help overnight. They can take 6 weeks to really start working. I'd suggest talking to your doctor about any concerns you have on side effects. Everyone is different but for me, I experienced dry mouth and difficulty getting into a deep and restful sleep. After about two months my body was used to the medication and I was sleeping better. The other thing I'd suggest is making sure to include family or a friend so that you have a proper support system through this. You sound like am amazing mother who is simply needing a little help. For me personally, I found that mixing medication with relaxation techniques helped. Maybe even taking a hot bath at night or some time just for you would help. I also see a cognitive and behavioral therapist who helped me to work through some past hurts. This also reassured me I'm not crazy and depression is a real medical issue! The last thing I'd suggest is massage therapy and acupuncture. I found this to be helpful and thank God I'm in a better place now. Take it one day at a time.
Thank you Brittany for taking the time to respond to my post. I kept taking it but changed the time I take it. I was taking it in the morning before and I would be exhausted throughout the day but wouldn't be able to sleep at bedtime. So now I take it at suppertime and this seems to have helped. I feel more relaxed now. I have also been listening to a self help program that I used about 17 yes ago that I found very helpful back then. In fact, this program is what helped me stop having panic attacks for many years. I have been through a lot over these past four years including my children being diagnosed with a fatal disease and my husband messing around on me with my friend. I guess I hit my breaking point but I am slowly but surely coming around. Anyway...thanks so much for your support! It is very much appreciated!
