My husband, 56yr old, is diabetic for around 16 yrs. He has been on insulin for 4yrs. From April this yr dr has given 31 units rhyzodeg per day. His bp normally is 150 -160/90 although he has been taking bp medicines ever since his sugar was detected. He was taking cardace 10 twice daily, rosulip 10mg, janumet xr(cp), cilacar 20. In august his 24 hrs urinary protein excretion rpt revealed 5.69gm/day. So dr has given him telsar 80 in place of it. Is there anything to worry about kidney wise? Please help.

These medications are sometimes used to help protect the kidneys from the damage that diabetes could possibly cause, so he should take it, if his doctor has instructed him to do so. The NIH lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension.
