Hello, Rosy! How are you feeling?
The reason you may feel that the Percocet relieves your pain more is due to the Acetaminophen that it contains. It helps the Oxycodone to work better for some people that take it. Thus, though they both contain Oxycodone, the Acetaminophen may give it just enough of a boost to help you more.
The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Is there anything else I can help with?
I take percocet and tramadol and ibuprofen 800 mg i have rhematoid arthritis, degenerativedisc disease, gout osteo and another arthritis and i suffer i tell my doctors the truth n trust n God
The Percocet has acetaminophen or Tylenol it it where the oxycodone alone does not. If you take one Tylenol with the oxycodone you basically have a Percocet.
hey just thought i would reply due to the other responses you have gotten. so Percocet 10/325 has 10mg oxycodone and 325mg of tylenol (aceto). the 10 mg oxycodone cr your doc has you on has the same amount of oxy, but is controlled release (cr) so releases slowly over time which is NOT the same as the Percocet if you just take a tylenol with it. For that you would need the oxycodone 10mg IR (Immediate release).
Hi Rosy. I'm not exactly sure what strengths you're taking because your Title question shows 5mg, but your message says 10 mg. Maybe I can explain anyway. The first number on Percocet represents the amount of Oxycodone in each tablet (i.e., 5 mg, or 10 mg typically). The second number represents the amount of Tylenol in each tablet ( i.e., 325 mg or 375 mg typically). It's best for you to take the least Tylenol because too much could be bad for you. The Oxycodone CR is a Continuous Release tablet typically expected to last 12 hours. By the way you labeled it, the CR tablet appears that it doesn't have any Tylenol, and I really believe it does not. Check with your pharmacist to make sure. That may be why the CR doesn't seem to be working as well for you, that is, the lack of Tylenol. It really can make a big difference. I caution you again, too much of it is very bad for your liver. I hope this was clear and was helpful. Good luck!
