Is Naproxen Stronger Then Vicodin

I'm researching pain meds for my knee pain after a replacement.

Naproxen is an nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. Naproxen is the generic name for Aleve, The difference is that Aleve is OTC because it is only 220 mg and Naproxen is prescription because it is 500 mg.

Vicodin is a combination of hydrocodone and tylenol. Hydrocodone is a narcotic and can be addicting. You must have a prescription to get Vicodin.

No, Naproxen is not stronger than Vicodin. Although it could probably compare to the acetaminophen in Vicodin, the hydrocodone is still a far more potent pain reliever in and of itself.

If you're unsure of which medication to take for pain relief, I think it would be wise to ask your doctor/surgeon for their opinion on what might be most appropriate for you based on the severity of the condition and how long it may take to completely heal.

The previous post is also right that hydrocodone can be very addicting, so it would be imperative to only use it as directed by your physician.
