Hi Lisa,
IP 272 is reportedly identified as Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim DS (800mg/160mg). From what I could gather, this antibiotic is not FDA-approved for veterinary use. However I have read about several cases of veterinarians still prescribing Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim DS for cats and dogs... Pigs on the other hand, I have no idea. But what I would recommend doing is disclosing all of your animal's medication history to the veterinarian in order to better determine whether Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim is the most appropriate form of treatment.
