I take seroquel to help me sleep and imitrex for migraine. My knees have swollen and are painful. A couple of years ago I was on Celexa and imitrex. The same knee swelling developed and progressed to multi-system shut down. I wonder if anyone else experienced a serious adverse effect from the interaction of tryptans and psychopharmacology combination?

Hi, Turtle! Sorry about the problem that you're having.
I've done some searching, but not finding anything on this type of interaction, however, there is really no way of knowing how anyone is going to react to any given medication combination.
Did your doctor have any idea why it happened to you? Did they definitely relate it to the medications?
Though it isn't a common side effect, the Seroquel can cause edema in some people that take it, so that may be what's causing the swelling and pain.
