Inflamed Esophagus, Still Partial Acid Reflux - Maybe Spiked
UpdatedI went to the hospital on March 21, and had the doctor look at me. He did blood work and x-rays and both came back fine and normal. He said I had a viral infection. I do not know which viral infection it is, unfortunately. He prescribed me Prantoprazole for a full month of 2 pills a day for 15 days, and then 1 pill a day for another 15 days. The prescription will only last a month, no refills. Ever since using Protonix on March 22 when I started the medication, the only symptom my body has been really facing is diarrhea. I had hamburgers on March 24, but about 10-15 minutes later I had yellow diarrhea and it was floating. I haven't been eating much either since the symptoms of my sickness or even while on the medication.
My stomach was feeling fine earlier today, March 25, but I had a bunch of hashbrowns fried in vegetable oil. After a little bit, my stomach acid spiked, and has stayed spiked for hours. I took the second pill of what my doctor prescribed me to take but even with the extra pill working at full force, the acid reflux is still spiking. The acid reflux is also causing inflammation in my throat and I can't seem to keep my esophagus wet long enough, even with water. I've also had heartburn too which can last for maybe 5-10 minutes, but isn't severe. Should I seek out medical help by a doctor immediately? What are the results if I don't get this treated? How can I get this treated? Will there be significant issues to deal with in the future if this continues? How do I stop it? Is it only temporary, or permanent? How long until the acid reflux subsides, if it does? Also, can acid reflux also cause just an inflammation in the esophagus but not have the actual stomach acids coming up your throat and also cause heartburn? Help! I wish to know everything, and as much as possible as of to what's going on. I've tried researching on all kinds of sites for hints and advice of what to do, but nothing seems to work. What's going on with me? Please, someone explain!

Hello, Little missy! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems you're experiencing.
Basically, for this to heal up and improve, you need to start eating better, when you eat. Hashbrowns deep fried in vegetable oil are very heavy in saturated fats and will cause a higher production of stomach acid to digest, which in turn may cause the other symptoms you've described, as explained by the NIH.
The inflammation of your throat, or irritation you're feeling, can be caused by acid reflux, even if you don't realize that the reflux is occurring. You should always have such a symptom checked out by your doctor, but it is most likely just acid reflux, due to what you ate. Any food high in saturated fats can cause such issues.
No medication can do everything to heal any given condition or keep it under control, it also takes effort on your part, such as changing the way you eat. Lower fat foods, keeping away from spices and avoid acidic foods for awhile will help a lot.
Is there anything else I can help with?
