I put on 20 pounds after taking buspirone for a year ... Will I lose weight when I stop taking it?

Yes, if it was the sole reason for the weight gain, then you'll most likely lose it, after coming off of the medication.

However, as listed by the NIH, withdrawal effects may include anxiety, depression and mood swings, so you should speak to your doctor about doing a proper taper, rather than a sudden withdrawal, to help mitigate the withdrawal effects.
