There are various treatment options available, it really depends on what type of cancer and what country you are in.

Many people with some types of it live long lives, now, as compared to several years ago, where the prognosis wasn't good for anyone.

Just wanted to add to this; depending on the type of cancer your dealing with, there are various dietary habits that promote your ability to be cancer free. I can suggest a few changes that would be very beneficial in this regard, such as:

-lowering your protein and fat intake to only 10% of your total calories for the day.
-eat a diet that consists primarily of fresh raw fruits and veggies (with a higher emphasis on fruit for calories)
-depending on the type of cancer, grapes are highly recommended.
-maintain more of an alkaline environment in your body. Bacteria/fungus can't survive in alkaline system. Cancer is a fungus.
-certain essential oils like frankincense and a few others have cancer fighting properties.
-I've also read something about baking soda in relation to fighting cancer. It is worth looking into.

But I do realize most people eat the wrong food for protein, and I eat too little. You description matches weight that never pertains to me because mine has not changes 5 lbs. in 50 years, always below normal.
