I became highly allergic to sulfa drugs after being hospitalized for cellitus in my hand they pump me full of bactrim and I turned beat red and could barely breath...I was having weird tingling in my feet like when something falls asleep..hard to breath..doctor came in and said avoid sulfa drugs. My insurance refuses to pay for white subs and the orange get ones make me sick, rash on my neck...light headed...so the main drug in suboxone is acesulfame....an atrifificle sweetner..

I wm allergic to sulfa & had the same reaction to the orange Suboxone. May e there is a connection.
Re: VerFree (# 1)
I don't know if there is a common ingredient, but I am allergic to sulfa and suboxone. Sulfa caused a back rash & lots of pain. Suboxone caused a peeling rash on my face & I felt horrible. I am not allergic to any other medications. I hope you find answers & get relief.
Re: VerFree (# 1)
This is the reason my doctor writes me an alternative to suboxone. And most doctor's writing suboxone will lie to you about the possible side effects.
Hello Jen! How are you? I am sorry about the experiences you've had with these medications.
Acesulfame is not the main drug in Suboxone, as an artificial sweetener, it is considered an inactive ingredient. The active ingredients in Suboxone are Buprenorphine, and Naloxone. It is an opiate that is used to help treat drug addiction. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.
As to your reactions. while Bactrim, and Suboxone are not related drugs, being allergic to one medication usually means that you will eventually find more that also induce such a reaction.
Have you consulted your doctor? It might be a dye in the orange ones, and your doctor may have to write your prescription in such a way that prevents the pharmacy from providing you with those ones.
