I take 100 ic gabapentin 3 times/day for sciatica. Now I find that my bladder leaks about once a week which is unnerving. Has this been reported as a side effect?

Thank everyone for your response, I knew that I wasn't crazy ! An hour after taking my nightly dose I have to get up at least twice to go to the bathroom , if I don't I will pee on myself

Bladder leakage during sleep is absolutely side effect. Especially if you have a sensitive bladder. I experience every time I have had to take it. Its horrible!

I have been on 300mg Neurontin three times a day for a week for CRPS/RSD that happened after foot surgery. I constantly feel like I have to urinate but when I go it's barely a few drops and when I cough or laugh I leak.

I have the same problem, I go and I feel like I have to go right away. Terrible. I still have shingles almost 2 months now. Can't win.

I've been on gabapentin for about 8 months and have not been motivated to work out, but the main reason I'm here is because I've woken up in a puddle of wetness. I couldn't believe it was me. Was in denial that I pee'd a bladder full on myself without knowing it.

I am having the same problem. I have had four bladder surgeries in the past and my bladder has been under control unless I get sick with coughing, getting choked on my food or drink etc. It has been a battle since the day I started this medicine and I hate it, it seemed like it has been working other than the side effects now I am lost as to what is out there that I can take for this pain.

In the clinical studies I have read, Gabapentin has quite the opposite effect. I began reading About this as I had noticed that the incontinence I had experienced decreased when taking the Neurontin, I was very sleepy when taking Neurontin so I decided to just stop taking it. After going a full day without the Neurontin, I once again became incontinent. Having previously taking other medications for this problem with little to no relief and the onset of severe muscle spasms, I was thrilled to find that the medication I had been prescribed for Fibromyalgia was also controlling my urinary incontinence! Hope this provided the answers you were seeking.

I have recently had the same problem sometimes it's a little but twice I've woke up totally wet, I have stopped taking it until I can see my doc again, also shaking and complete loss of things like the milk jug boom on the floor, soda bottle same coffee and many other things, I don't want narcotics but I don't want to pee the bed all the time

I just started taking Gabapentin again for my restless legs. Immediately I starting peeing my panties at night. Never can make it to the bathroom without wetting myself. Seems like I dribble in them all day long. Must change them 5 or 6 times a day.

I take 900 mg of gabapentin for sciatica pain. I have not experienced any bladder leakage issues. I also have been reading studies that are researching the use of gabapentin to TREAT overactive bladder issues with emphasis on keeping the detrusor muscle relaxed. I do not have an answer. It seems that there is alot of conflicting material out there.

I was using gabapentin for shingles. During that time I had very bloody urine. I went to the doctor and I ended up with a kidney infection. Needless to say my bladder has never been the same. Sometimes it's hard to empty my bladder all the way therefor creating small leaks which never happened before I took gabapentin.

Hello and "Yes" this is the second occurrence which frightened me... I immediately thought of my spinal cord due to the lower back pain I've been experiencing. Then something guided me to check out the Gabapentin and here I am. I will be discussing this with my physician today...

I have been taking gabapentin 300mg a day for lichen planus. It seems to keep the outbreaks down, so I don't want to stop the medication. I recently started having bladder control issues, and was relieved to find out that I'm not alone in thinking it's a side effect of this drug. I'm not taking anything else that could cause this.

I just stopped taking it gradually, I had an herniated disc. Today, I had leakage, small but...there. I took it for a month and went up to 900 mg a day. Not only it affected my bladder but it lowered my estrogen to the point that I now need to go on hrt. I am 52 years old, post hysterectomy. Gabapentin caused me extreme vaginal dryness, I could barely walk. Low estrogen affects the bladder. I just googled it and found a pdf that states that it may lead to urinary or fecal incontinence.

I'm so glad I found this... I've been taking 300mg TID for the past 6 days after having a cool sculpting treatment that has caused severe nerve pain. I have wet the bed twice in the past 3 days and had no idea it was even happening. No more liquid for me after 5pm. It absolutely has to be a side effect whether it is listed or not.

I am also on gabapentin but have no leakage just peeing about every 45 minutes both day and night and so thirsty. Had a total knee replacement in November 2014 and had gabapentin in hospital and at home but never made me pee like this.

OMG I thought I was going crazy! I go to the bathroom right before getting into bed and within half an hour I have to go again. And during the night is the worst! Can even count the amount of times I havent made it to the bathroom. Sometimes I have to go 4 or 5 times a night. I refuse to let the doctor tell me it has nothing to do with the gabapentin.

I took my first dose of Gabapentin (taking for sciatica) last night and had 2 instances of bladder issues. When I got up to go to bed I started to pee and I had to run to the bsthroom. This morning I was woken up because I was urinating. I have never had that issue and will not take that medicine anyone.
