I Need To Find A Doctor In Fort Worth Texas That Prescribes Pain Killers (Page 2) (Top voted first)
UpdatedDoes anyone know a doctor that is good about prescribing pain killers like hydrocodens 10/325 in fort worth Texas? I am a diabetic type 1 that has a lot of pain and really in need of a good doctor that can help me out and not think i am faking pain.
Dr. Don Escarzega-Phan in Arlington. But, won't take cash or Medicaid patients.
Interesting and logical arguments from MandyShea. Texas MD does not work for any government agency but is in private practice. True the patients who cross my doors with a predetermined menu of items they want to leave with probably do not like me, but most who are prepared to work and make effort to reduce pain and suffering actually like my somewhat direct manner (though I have never been accused of having the bedside manner of a Jackel before!!).
MS is a very debilitating illness and, yes, there are circumstances where I will prescribe long term opiods, but I will also have high vigilence regarding depression, alcohol use, getting meds from other providers etc.
My biggest beef is the patient who is otherwise healthy but rather than try physical therapy, anti inflamatories or even get an XRay or MRI to see what is causing the pain, just want the meds.
Sorry if my bedside manner did not please you on this visit, but maybe I was able to explain my position to your satisfaction.
Even the va is changing policy on long term pain meds. I've been lucky, lost weight and gotten off the high dose and high strength stuff. Physical therapy helps and now use Tylenol 3 and occasionally a norco. Always watch your daily acetaminophen intake. I supplement meds with ibuprofen and naproxin sodium. Also making trips to pharmacy in Matamoros Mexico for norco supply. Remember the medical establishment in our country doesn't really care about your pain as much as they say. Good luck to all. But until enough of us band together and change something, you should probably find an alternative to hydrocodone, or go to Mexico for your supply.
How much did you pay for he Norco and what strength? Was there a limit, unfortunately I take a lot for life-threatening injuries and have never been questioned about the use from my Doctor, but now he acts like he is scared to death to write them. What really hacks me off is they are punishing everybody on Hydrocodone, especially those of us that buy, get prescribed and all legal the worst! This is what you get when the damn Government sticks their nose where it doesn't belong, they damn sure should be able to get all of the drug addicts and doctor shoppers without trampling over the rights of people that depend on this medication!
Hi! Thanks! I already take Meloxicam everyday, anti inflamatory. I can't take too much more if any ibuprofen. I'm at risk for stomach problems. Scary thing is things will probably just get worse as I get older. I used to drive over to Matamoros all the time. I didn't go for pain meds. I would get a variety of things, skin products I couldn't get in the U.S and inhalers, or antibiotics. Is it legal to bring back Norco? I still drive down to Harlingen a few times a year, but haven been into Mexico for some time. Scary! Maybe if we all vote in Ben Carson, he's a physician & probably understands. Bottom line, I think they need to find a freaking way to tell if a person is having real pain, heat scan, blood test, I don't care. It's just not right. I do know that my mental health is at risk, enduring more pain, is depressing & debilitating. My ability to function in everyday life is minimized causing me to isolate myself. I've started drinking more alcohol, when I haven't had alcohol in 15 years. It kinda takes the edge off, but I hate the taste & I think it's really bad for you. It's legal! Maybe pot is the answer & we know that's not legal. I just think they need to use more common sense, dr.s with their patients. Yes, I know that addicts are the best actors, but, come on. They could try a little harder to weed out the addicts and the elderly & in pain folks. Just my opinion.
JohnUPT welcome to being disabled in America! You might be able to get the drug for free directly from the company who makes it because you sound like you have a financial hardship. Goto the manufacturer website and see if they do this. I know that Purdue Pharmaceutical who makes Oxycontin does give it to people for free who can't afford it. Your doctor would have to initiate the contact with the pharmaceutical company that has programs that provide free meds to people who can't afford them. You then have to fill out the paperwork and provide proof of income via last year's tax return. Then when approved you have to mail the written prescription from the doctor to the pharmaceutical company then wait for them to fill and generally overnight it to you. I know it sounds like a big hassle, but once you get it all started you just mail your new script to them and they send you your meds on the day you're suppose to get them(every 30 days). Just get the doctor to write the script in advanced, date the fill 2 days prior to actual fill date because this allows them time to fill it and ship it to you. Also I know here in Texas you can be on Medicare and also have Medicad pay for your prescription drugs too in a financial hardship. Check out all your options because there is help, you just have to be very proactive to obtain it. In other words it's not going to fall into your lap.
I'm disabled, but I'm very fortunate that I have money from a legal suit that made me disabled. I use to get Oxycontin for free before I settled my case, it was $1088.53 a month for 60 pills, like I could have afforded that! I personally know people on these programs, they help those who need their meds, but can't afford them. Please don't sit around and suffer needlessly when there's several ways to get your meds for free. Don't feel bad about asking for help, these pharmaceutical companies just write it off on their taxes and their rich beyond belief. Good luck in obtaining the meds you need.
JohnUPT , google Hysingla ER and chose a Purdue Pharma link. When you get to the Purdue website, click on For Patients & Caregivers from the menu at the top of the page, on the next page below the picture, click on Cost Savings to find out what help Purdue offers with the cost of their medications when you don't have the money to pay for them.
The info about the Medicaid help with Medicare that Mark is talking about is below. Help with prescription drugs is called Extra Help. You can also get help with your Medicare Premiums, co/pays and deductibles being paid if you meet the income and resource criteria. For that info click on Medicare Savings Programs in the menu on your left hand side of the page below.

Mandy Shea, if the prescriber and the pharmacy Both have approved software they can transmit Schedule II prescriptions electronically.

I did not post anything that was knowingly inaccurate. I have no reason to doubt my PCP, pain mngmt doc and long time regular pharmacist who've all said C2 scripts must be hand written. I agree there is a lot of prescription fraud out there. However, this does NOT give certain doctors and least of all our government the right to treat legitimate pain patients like they are criminals, too. Legitimate pain patients DO have the right to be treated fairly and to have their pain managed as well as possible. Sadly and infuriatingly many doctors are no longer treating patients for pain. Not because they don't care but because they are tired of having their practices dictated by our government and/or insurance companies. As an MA for many years I know of three docs personally not to mention the many posts on here of patients looking for new pain management doctors because the ones they had stopped doing the same thing. Something I do find interesting, Texas MD is that you said you've had your script pad stolen before, twice even I believe you said. I know as an MA I've written hundreds of scripts on behalf of the docs I've worked for, some of those being controlled substances. Of course, they were all signed by the physician before they were ever given to the patient. The one thing I know we never did is leave a pad wear a patient could gain access to it. I personally kept the one I was using in my scrub pocket at all times. I can't think of a single instance where we had a patient steal a pad or call in a script fraudulently under any of the docs I worked for. I'm not saying you or your office did anything wrong and I agree junkies will go to most any lengths to get what they want. But, there has to be some accountability on the part of the docs and their offices when a patient is allowed easy access to the script pad. Unfortunately, I don't see the problem of prescription fraud ending or getting better anytime soon. Therefore, those of us who have legitimate pain will be the ones who continue to pay the price.
A DO (Osteopathic Physicians) can do anything that MD's can do.
Dr Ince - he's in hurst. He's a pain specialist. My brother sees him after having a rollover ejection last summer, breaking his neck and shattering every other bone! He seems content w the doctor.

The previous message is a lie. The Feds cannot stop a doctor from prescribing long term pain meds. Who ever stated this has not read the DEA And FDA limitations.
I have several things wrong with me that causes me to have pain constantly. Yet my doctor seems to think antidepressants and exercise works for everything. So I need to find one that will give me what I know would work...pain pills. Which doctor can I go to for pain meds in east texas?
Well said. I too have type 2 pain in my feet and have been taking hydro for five years and it WORKS. I have not gotten addicted and have had the same dosage for five years. As an atty i dont understand how someone's political agenda takes preference over my painful feet. I am wilking to get togethet with others similarly situated to fight the suits that are preventing people from functioning. All becausr some jerk kids abuse their folks script i have to suffet? What a country-we must be the dumbest people on the planet. Europeans take care of their people wr do not. Tell your representative enough. But im sure nothing will happen until a representativerepresentative's family member needs it then and only then does anything happen. Im embarrasded to be an anerican these days.
We as americans kill more american far more than opiate OD's. Check the stats. Are we gonna ban guns too? I think not. I rest my case.
Lawyer. Sorry i am really mad about this because people are hurting and the svumbag politicians are preventing good peoplr from functioning.
Re: TexasMD (# 84)
Actually, there are no long-term studies done on opioids...the longest done was twelve weeks, and the fact is, for many of us, nothing works as well and allows us to continue working or having some semblance of a life. Opioids are not dangerous drugs for the most part. You can use them for years without damage to your organs. The only real danger is an overdose, and even this can be managed by a gradual increase in dosages for tolerance, then slowly decreasing amounts to maintain tolerance levels.
You are not helping...drugs are there to be used and provide relief, and if managed well can restore people's lives to them. The lovely poppy should be celebrated as much as marijuana, also a profound provider of pain relief, as many states are starting to recognize, as well as a host of other health benefits.
We are going backwards as far as providing adequate pain relief. We seem to be returning to the days of "just suffer thru it", when it is totally unnecessary as we have the means to address both pain and addiction problems. And now that people are aware that these remedies are available, people are going to insist their pain is treated. They are right to do so. And if they can't get them thru a doctor, they will go to the street. This is why we are seeing the rise of illicit drugs now...too many people cannot get the prescription for pain relief...so they are self-treating. So by withdrawing prescription opioids, they are making the death toll rise by the illegal use of illicit drugs, which are often cut with fentanyl.
Doctors, those that are supposed to "first, do no harm", are causing immense harm to their patients now. They should have stood up to the states and federal government when they decided to place these drugs into a different class. They should have stood up for their patients. That they did not will be a stain on the medical field for ages to come.
I am seeking a pain management doctor in Fort Worth for headaches I have been w a dr but he is retiring due to the restrictions. I am looking for a good compassionate dr that will take me seriously. I am unable to work and these headaches are interfering with my life.
There are no new laws stating that a Pain Management dr must treat chronic pain. Many pcp's are deciding not to treat chronic pain to different reasons. But, there are no new State or Federal Laws that state a licensed physician, who has a DEA number and is in good standing cannot prescribe pain meds to chronic pain patients long term. Read your state laws and also read the federal laws, these laws do not exist.
