Periactin (cyproheptadine) is a prescription medicine that is sometimes given to people who need to gain weight. Cyproheptadine, the main ingredient in Periactin, is actually an antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms such as watery eyes, runny nose, itching eyes/nose, sneezing, hives, and itching. I'm not sure if it's available where you live, so I recommend asking your local pharmacy!
In order to gain weight in a healthy manner or without medication, I would suggest portioning out your meals every 2-3 hours (right around 6 meals per day). These meals should include natural nutrient dense foods with little to no empty calories, so you can get the most out of each meal.
Also, be sure to consume as many fruits and veggies as possible. The abundance of nutrients in them will help keep you active during the day as well as nourish your body from the inside out; allowing your body to better absorb nutrients found in other foods which in turn helps you get the most out of each meal.
Since you're 21, I wouldn't worry too much because you're still growing! Does anyone in your family have the same issue? It could be genetic, some people have a higher metabolism, which means that their body burns calories faster and can eat more without gaining weight.
