actually an anti spasmodic when taken orally it doesn't pass to bloodstream is contained to digestive system, prescribed commonly for irritable bowel syndrome, controls bowel/intestinal spasms associated with ibs. prescribed in liquid form to my toddler son in kuwait, worked wonders on a problem we've been having for well over a year!
