Hydroxyzine 50mg (Top voted first)

My son was prescribed this drug because of insomnia and anxiety. Does it work and is there something better, less side effects on the market. Thank you.

I AGREE WITH VERWOYN i have been taking for over 3 years for anxiety and it does work within 20 to 30 minutes you will be drowsy and possibly dizzy and may have cotton mouth but it does work well with no narcotic effects.

Actually, this is one of the least risky ones that's available. Many of the other medications used for such conditions carry the risk of being habit forming.

Hydroxyzine, however, is an antihistamine that has some sedative like properties. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth.

It works well for many people.

Does anyone else have any advice to add?

I have been on hydroxyzine for 5 years. It helped with bladder urgency and burning. But I had a massive flare from my I.C. and now my meds feel like they did the first time I took them which is extremely sleepy. I was at a point where I was not tired with these meds. When will they adjust back to this again?

Was perscribed the medication myself for mild insomnia. Been taking it for a couple of months now. Havent noticed any crazy side effects. The only thing I can say is not to take too late if you have and early start the next day. You will be fully conscious and able to wake up but you will be groggy for a bit. Outside of that awesome help for those nights your brain keeps ripping you out of your chances to sleep.
