A slow taper is usually the best solution, according to NIH reports. Withdrawals could cause nausea, dizziness, fever, chills, rebound pain, and seizures.
Are you on any other medications? How much Tramadol are you taking each day?
Kratom red vein....research it. I'm on day 5 cold turkey with little to no withdrawals....I was taking 8 to 20 a day for 3 years. I tried tapering and cold turkey before and thought I was going to die. I'm taking 5gms every 5 hrs but you may be different. Start slow and move up every 45 min till you stop feeling withdrawals. Then try to keep it in your system for a week, then start tapering down the dose of kratom....there are three strains....white used for energy..green used for relaxation and red for opioid detox and pain. Once you find your right dose you can mix the the strains for better results. You can buy at most head shops in most states if you're 18. Just move up gradually because it can make you quiet spacey if you take too much. But if you're like me you just want to get your life back....hope this helps. It appears to be a miracle for me.
I tried going off Tram cold turkey three times, and didn't make it past day 3. Tried slow tapering, which wasn't much better. Here's what worked for me: I switched from Tram to Norco, which enabled me to wean off the anti-depressant effects of Tram while still using an opiate. I had no trouble. After three weeks on Norco, I went cold turkey off of that. There was a week of discomfort, mild anxiety and grouchiness, but NOTHING compared to going off of Tram. Ten days after being off both Norco and Tram, I am fine. I will never touch Tramadol again. The withdrawal is hell, and I couldn't have done it without using Norco to get me over the hump.
Seeing that this post is from 2015; I really hope that you have discovered Kratom by now. I was hook on opiates, then tramadols. The withdrawals off of both are terrible. Kratom has been the answer and I have been free from both for a couple years...with no withdrawals.
I purchased Red Vein Kratom because I have been taking Tramadol for the last 8 yrs after having knee surgery. I am totally amazed at how well it works.... I started tapering down my Tramadol last week because I cannot get it anymore. I purchased it from Thailand but they will not sell it in the states any longer. I read this post about Red Vein Kratom and decided to try it as I needed something real soon before I ran entirely out of Tramadol. I received it yesterday afternoon.....took the prescribed dose last night, this morning and about to take another dose before bed. I have not had any Tramadol since Monday morning....
