How Strong Is A 60mg Morphine

I have been takin 60mg ms contin 3 times a day n 30mg oxycodone immediate release 4 times a day for 8 yrs i have bullet fragments in my spine an nerve damage in my legs my doc recently changed the oxycodone to morphine 30mg immediate release but my pain is still ridiculous what will help me i also take baclofen 10mg amytriptilyn 50mg an recently lyrica 75mg but like i said my pain is still out of control what will help me?

According to the NIH conversion information for opiates, Oxycodone is one and a half times stronger than Morphine, thus, being switched from 30mgs Oxycodone to 30mgs of Morphine was actually lowering your dose, so it is unsurprising that you are still in pain.

The FDA warns that narcotic medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation, further details can be found in their patient advisory leaflet.

Thus, part of the reason you're in pain, may be due to experience some withdrawals and rebound effects, since the Morphine is not equivalent to the dose of Oxycodone that you were taking.

Yes i have a pain management doctor but like i said ive been seein him about 8years and he actually told me that medicine doesnt brake down im my body the way it's supposed to..... thank you soo should i have my doctor go back to oxycodone an just ask for a higher milligram of oxycodone an drop the lyrica? Cause i also been havin trouble sleeping and since the lyrica i really have a harder time sleepin i was prescribed ambien for about 8yrs but i stop takin it cause they jus wasnt workin anymore i have taken tramadol, loranzapan, cloranzapan, sanoma ive taken methadol viccodine 10 millagrams an 7.5 an perhaps a few others but im just all off track an I'd really need some help......

I spent 9 mo in the hospital this year for Sepsis and 2 types of Bacterial pneumonia.
Before that I had the Mest put in abdominally, it grew into all of my Vital Organs. I complained for a yr before they checked on it and had to MAKE a new bladder, I now take treatments as often as I can and take 3 Elmiron ea day and 1Macradanton at night. Before this I had Cancer/Rectal/metasticized into the Lympe nodes. I had 90 Radiation treatments with a year of Chemo, all after severe surgery, after 6 mo I had a Colonoscopy (for life). Many other serious things before. I am on - 40 mg OPANA A m & Pm. 4 30 mg Oxycodone ea day as needed. Will this harm me?

I had a spinal fusion on my l5 and s4 and have an artificial disc and rods and pins and screws on my back. Now my rods and pins and screws are putting pressure on my l4, pressing on the nerve, causing unbearable pain in my back and down my legs. My feet go numb all the time and I lost all the strength in my feet.. Had back surgery to fix my l5 and s1 but now have about 85% relief. I've been on various pain meds - oxycodone didn't work. The last set of meds the Drs has put me on has given me total relief for a week so far. I take 2mg hydromorphone, 1 to 2 tabs every 4 hrs for pain. It is stronger than morphine but I also take 10 mg morphine 1 tab every 4 to 6 hrs., plus 20 mg of baclofen, an anti-inflammatory celecoxib 200 mg 1 tab daily and my upper back also has pain because a few of my discs are protruding and I have arthritis in my upper back. So for pain I'm also on duloxetine 120 mg a day. So u may wanna try this combination because it's definitely helped me and my feet haven't been numb for a week. I can actually do things now. I was couch bound because I couldn't sit in a chair cause it pressed on the nerve. I couldn't walk any distance and even laying down caused severe pain down my legs and numb feet to where I couldn't do anything besides stay on my couch. I was balling because I couldn't stay with the pain neurosurgeon who is supposed to call me. Also I have fibromyalgia and I get lidocaine infusions for the pain. I'm at the maximum dose. You never know it may help with ur back. My Dr was also going to talk to the pain clinic to see what they recommend for pain. So u definitely have options. Good luck. Keep me posted.
